MS defeated West Aurora 42-40 in round one.
MS defeated Barrington 42-27 in round two.

I have been critical of West Aurora all season because of their weak schedule. They brought a 9-0 record into the playoffs but only played one team with a winning record. In fact, their 9 opponents only amassed 27 wins. I was very surprised by the close 42-40 score vs. Main South.

Here is my question - Is West Aurora really 2 scores better than Barrington?
How good/bad was West Aurora?

The Cross brothers were exceptional! I mean like drop a snap on the ground, pick it up and go 60 yards untouched. You make a mistake or over pursue and they are gone. But they couldn't pass and their line was average. Defensively they had nice LB's but the MS staff found ways to exploit them.

So to answer your questions. Yes WA was a good team, but take away the brothers and they are an average team. I wouldn't say they are two TD's better but way more explosive than Barrington. Also the Barrington starting QB played a couple series which could only hurt them.

WA had the two brothers in the backfield. That QB/RB combo was a killer. Two very very fast guys and MS couldn't contain the edges.

The receiver (1) that played QB after the starter went out was a stud. I can't imagine the starter doing better. I can't believe that kid wasn't the starting QB.

I agree #1 is a stud but he is also their best receiver. So you move him to QB and you no longer have to worry about him catching TD's.

The other kid must be amazing because I'd want the ball in that kids hands as much as possible.

The other kid was quick and threw the ball well. I could tell during warm-ups he wasn't going to be the same kid that we played earlier in the year.
