His name was Oscar. Will be another 20 years before see again.

We have several needs. Rebounding, shot blocking, defense, 3pt shooting, primary ballhandler.
Well, there is another Oscar out there. He's one of the best rebounders in the country, shoots free throws well for a big man, passes the ball well for a center, and fights for the short baskets. He doesn't shoot many 3's and midrange jumpers though.

Energy wise don't know. Hard to find those types that are also talented. The three leading rebounders coming back would be Carson Towt, Northern Arizona, 6-8 235, 12.4 rebounds, Oscar Cluff, South Dakota St, 6-11 260, 12.3 rebounds, Gavin Walsh, Binghampton, 6-8 225, 10.9.

The 7-0 from Fl St is an active shot blocker type. What type would we want? The 6-11 260 bear or the 7-0 active shot blocker? We do need one of those types or a combination of those two as a backup or starter if Garrison does not come back especially. We don't need to rely on any freshman if we are building to win it all.

Garrison doesn’t have a defensive DOG mentality he watches too much. I think he transfers whether he stays or goes we need a starting center

For all you folks in the deep end of the portal, who is the high motor, physical, rebounding machine? Who's the Rodman? Who fits that mold? Cause I want that dude.
I'm no expert, but the guy that I think best fits what you described just entered the portal from Kansas. His name is Bidunga.

It’s one thing to rebound well in a league where you have 3” and 40lb on most other “bigs” in your bottom rung league. It would be quite another to in SEC .
I’m not saying he would be a bad rebounder (like Garrison), but he would not be nearly as good as his stats are now.

Isn't he a Purdue likely?
Probably Iowa St
Does anybody really know? I thought Dent was likely to UK.

I didn't really expect UK to be involved here because of the questionable fit with the offensive scheme. Somebody wanted to know who the big rebounders in the portal are, and he also happens to be named "Oscar" like our own Big O, so I was just pointing him out.

I want Gwath and Bol Bowen. They aren't phenomenal rebounders, numbers-wise, but they look like they have great motors, length, and athleticism. Dunno about their "want to," but they've got the physical intangibles.

All I can tell ya is that when there's talk of them coming here... "Be ready." 😂

I think he would still be a plus-rebounder in the SEC. I just don't think the other tools that we desire are going to make him stand out in the analytical recruiting lists that our staff uses. As of right now, Cluff is rated among the Top 25 available portal transfers according to ESPN, which is higher than Kam Williams. Doesn't really matter if the fit isn't there though.

Ratings are very subjective, often based on simplistic measures like ppg and rpg.
I simply think Cliff would be a defensive liability. And that is KM strength.

I don’t know who the player is but Kentucky needs to find a player like Williams for Texas tech. That guy is a dang warrior
Not disagreeing. But keep in mind, as a FR 2 years ago at Nevada he was 7.6p, 7.3r. And last year at TT he was 11.4 & 7.5. Just saying that because we don’t get a 20 & 10 guy doesn’t mean he’s not good.

Agree, I just think we need a physical player like him who isn’t afraid to mix it up

I think some portal news will really start to heat up Monday. Only 4 teams left. Most will be declaring and sorting rosters.

The reality is we're either going to have to develop guys like that or take a flier on unproven guys with that potential before they blow up and everyone wants them.

I think we're seeing that while the Crafts and others may have deep pockets, they don't have the deepest pockets and there are going to be different teams throw nearly their entire NIL budget at one guy on a lot of guys that we might want. To me, the KEY to winning in the NIL and Portal Era will be correctly identifying under the radar talent and getting "the next big thing" before they're "the next big thing".
