First of all good luck this season. Hope you guys light it up.
The question is in regards to Venables. If you didn’t know he has a “get back” guy at Clemson. The poor guy has to physically remove Brent from the field every single defensive snap. Does anyone here know if he had that sort of deal going on when he was in Norman? Thanks

I don't believe he did. I just remember he and Mike constantly yelling on the side lines the entire game. Eventually got to the point where Mike had to go up in the booth because he was making a fool of himself. The booth didn't help

Don't recall as I was too busy yelling at the TV when his defense was on the field.

There was a good reason his knickname was "NeckVein"; probably due mostly to recruiting

The book on BV @ OU was: great recruiter, good LB coach, not so good at scheming. BV was and still is well liked by OU fans. His success @Clemson is well deserved.

After his magnificent DC play calling during the OU-USC meltdown of 04', the West Virginia Fiesta Bowl meltdown of 08', the 07' Boise St. Fiesta Bowl meltdown, and the 2011 Baylor Meltdown, just to name a few, does it really matter?

Of the 10 worst Bob Stoops beatdowns, Venables was the sole DC for 8 of those and CO-DC for all 10. Some of those beatdowns were some of the worst all-time OU beatdowns too. Good for Venables to get a new start and system to work in but I don't really sit here wondering what could have been and whether he was held back on the sidelines.

I can assure you I held myself back many times from assaulting my tv while watching a Brent Venables defense fall apart on National tv.
