Top to bottom the Big XII IMO. Every single Big XII program takes their basketball program seriously, including TCU who most figured would be the league doormat when they were added for football reasons, there simply are no pushovers and KU is a way more consistent top dog than programs like UConn, Syracuse, Villanova and UL.

The Big East IMO resembled a CBB version of the Barclays Premier League. For the BE you had a big collection of programs that each all had some type of historical significance save for USF, along with a lot of easy drives for road games. It made for great TV, but end of the day the bottom 4-7 teams were usually layups especially at home, where the Big XII the last place team is typically dangerous especially on the road.

What conference is tougher this years Big 12 basketball or the old Big East Conf?

Big 12. You play everyone twice in a home and away series while only maybe one of those opponents any given year is a lucky to be NIT team. Sure there were years when the BE had Georgetown, Syracuse, UConn, Pitt, Louisville, Marquette, and Villanova were all top 20 teams, but you didn't have to face every one of those teams and most certainly not twice with one game guaranteed on the road. The Big East was usually good for at least a few cellar dwellers as well with USF, Rutgers, and DePaul frequent being down there and usually one other program joining them in a down year.

So the BE usually had 20-25% not being even bubble worthy compared to the 10-20% in the Big 12. You could also possibly avoid one of the top 25 teams in the BE all together or only play them at home unlike the Big 12 where you are guaranteed to play the conference's best and play them on their court.
