Question?

I was just watching Samaje Perine highlights and I guess it was a no-brainer to switch to the MIKE LEACH offense, especially with Joe Mixon coming in 2016 and the plethora of WRs and great QBs OU has coming back? That Air-Raid has really produced a bunch of national titles, right?

I get your point, but Bob Stoops is feeling the pressure and is going back to what worked for him the best, IMO. Maybe he is right and maybe not. Regardless, he is going to do what he thinks is best for Bob, which is what is best for OU. Hey, if he doesn't get back to competing for Big 12 and national championships he isn't going to be around these parts too much longer. I really believe he is prideful and is doing everything he believes is best for bringing the program back. I only hope that his loyalty to family doesn't destroy his plan. But a damn good point, rkhufu7.

BTW, what does your handle mean?

I heard OU is going to run the Riley offense. Did OU bring back Leach and forget to tell everybody?

By the way, it was the Leach offense that was utilized the last time OU won a national championship. Just sayin.

Prolly a typo 7 but, Mixon is good to go this year...2015, and fellow babies I can't wait to see the one two punch of Samaje and Big Joe.

I've got a feeling it's gonna be breathtaking.

"Are you ready for some football?" YES!

A plethora of WR's ? I don't consider Shepard and Westbrook as a "plethora" of receivers.....with proven, quality receivers. All the other receivers are of unknown quality right now. Neal is an average performer so far and Quick has yet to prove he's ready for prime time. This is not to say the receiving can't become good, but with suspensions, defections and injuries from last season, there's a lot to be done to assemble a good receiving corps.

What "great" quarterbacks are on the team ?

I find it difficult to use the word "great" in describing any aspect of this team at this time.

CT, see the definition for "satire", "irony", etc.
I stand corrected, iasooner.....sometimes it's hard to tell satire from reality on this board....guess it's a hangover from all the Kool-Aid I've consumed here over the years.

There's much concern being expressed about this team these days and yet no one is being chastised for expressing it.
After last season, everyone here seems hard pressed to "fight the good fight....the noble fight" against those who dare second guess or show disappointment and concern.

This may be true for today in June 2015. But if your Kool-Aid comment is implying, "Na na boo boo.. I told you so", you are giving yourself too much credit. I wasn't here last season because I wanted to enjoy the season without reading all the doom and gloom and criticism of our coaching staff (which I still stand behind). So I don't know what was said during the 2014 season. Before that, the good and noble fight was heated up when the "second-guessers" were criticizing all-thing-Sooner-football when we were doing pretty good. Case in point.... Landry Jones. That guy was a record-setting QB. Has a Big XII Championship ring on his finger. But the nay-sayers were on his butt constantly. And the other players and coaches too. More recently, our 2012 Big XII co-championship year. We were pretty good, but you wouldn't know it by reading this board.

How do you like us now?

PS: I hated seeing the Sooners get clobbered by Clemson as much as anyone else, but the consolation prize was seeing Brent Venables (who I supported) throw a pie in the face of some nay-sayers.
You are the one giving me credit which I am not asking for. My Kool-Aid remark pertains only to myself and has nothing to do with an "I told you so" context. How much Kool-Aid others "drink" is up to them.....all I'm saying is I have had enough of it for a while and now I look to seeing how and when Stoops can get the program to being relevant again, something I thought had occurred following the Sugar Bowl win over Alabama and the very good recruiting class that followed a month later.
Landry Jones had a good college career, but he made some occasional mistakes. This is only an objective observation which is no attempt in being "on his butt constantly".
We were indeed "pretty good" during Landry's time. If being "pretty good" meets your comfort level, go for it.
You made a good decision in not being here last season. Nothing went right (on or off the field) outside of Perine's emergence as a great player. That's my opinion.

Here, I rewrote my post to better express my thoughts. Here goes.

Things look kind of bleak right now, so people can express their concerns without being chastised. That's fair enough. What isn't fair is all the criticism of the coaches and players during the good years. The issue is that every fan has a differing definition of what a "good year" is and what a good player or coach is. That is when the fireworks fly.

I listened to Toby Rowland and Merv Johnson almost exclusively last year. Listening to play-by-play and the coaches shows on the Sooner Sports Network was very refreshing. I may have to do that again in 2015.

CT, I am sorry about my first post. I understand now what you mean, and I agree with you.

22....no problem. It was I who misconstrued rkfuhu's OP to begin with.

I just mean, that with two of the best RBs, in Perine and Mixon, why are we going to a pass first offense, when we only have ONE proven WR and a questionable QB at best. It would make more sense to run a run based spread, like OSU or Oregon or a power I like Bama/Stanford, but a passing attack doesn't come to mind at all. I know that OU succeeded back in 2000, with a more run heavy Leach offense, but it was also because OU had depth at skill spots and could switch kids from DB to WR and RB to WR and so on, but this team is short at DBs and WRs. Does OU have personnel to run the Buckeye type spread attack, I think they do. You just need a slot/RB type, a RB, dual threat QB and a great blocking TE/HB/UB/FB and a good OL. Texas is gonna try and do that this fall, but I don't think Watson can do it IMO. I think OU wants to get an offense like it was in 2008, with the temp, but with TWO 1000 yard backs like Murray and Brown. So this offense will be a spread, but with power concepts for the backs and the tempo and passing concepts of Leach that allowed Iglesias and the other WR and Gresham to kill folks that year. So this new offense will be more like the KEVIN WILSON spread/pro-I offense from 2008.
