I would have no issue at all with Gran and think he would be a great hire, but I am just curious why Tyson Helton hasn't gotten any lip-service regarding the UK OC position? He was pretty high on UGA's wish list.

I wonder if it has anything to do with age?

I read on here that age was a determining factor in Stoops decision to go with Dawson over Riley. I think it was UKani that posted that info.

You'd have to wonder whether that is a Holgerson/Dawson scenario...have no doubt Dawson game planned and in game schemed, suggested...but that didn't quite work out for us...is it known that Brohm lets Helton roll with the O?

When I envison the ideal staff for Stoops, I start with a nice veteran OC to enable Stoops to turn his attention elsewhere. Helton may have even less experience as an OC than Dawson. (Given Dawson's days at SFA and Millsaps). This scares me.

With a guy like Gran, Stoops can turn full attention to other aspects.....i.e. game management or mentoring Eliot.

If nothing else, I think Stoops needs a guy who has been around the block and can help/offer thoughts on in game management. I know a lot of in game decisions that Stoops made left you scratching your head.

I wouldn't mind if stoops became special teams coordinator too, Ala beamer. That needs cleaning up this year bad. Let gran go with o. Let Eliot and buh run the D. This would give stoops the time and freedom to make our special teams a plus.
