Knowing this district (I lived in North Fulton for several years) and how those voters have been casting ballots for the past few election cycles, Ossoff's bid was bound to fail. Here's why.

East Cobb county and North Fulton have been reform sections of the 6th district since Newt Gingrich. They fed Newt's reform drive behind the '94 revolution and the "Contract with America"...it was Newt's home district back then and he rode that agenda to victory with the Republican revolution in '94.

Some of The Tea Party's original chapters also formed in this area shortly after Democrats started introduction of the ACA.

When Karen Handel was Chairman of the Fulton county commission, she presided over talks aimed at splitting the county (Fulton) into north and south (it failed) however the city of Milton in North Fulton formed in 2006 as a direct result of those initial talks.

Same with the city of John's Creek in north Fulton that same year. Earlier it was the cities of Sandy Springs, and earlier Dunwoody in DeKalb county that formed as a result of residents there wishing to escape the claws of oppressive taxation and bloated Governments in both Fulton and Dekalb county sections of the 6th.

More recently, this district has remained a vocal opponent of the ACA, as well as a strong supporter of other reforms like school choice vouchers and the de-funding of Planned Parenthood.

Ossoff tried to appeal to these reform minded voters proposing his own "reform" agenda, but the base of his support as well as his most enthusiastic funding came from the most radical elements of the Left wing of the Democrat party. It was a coalition doomed to fail.

The Liberal Pro Gay communities of Buckhead and Brookhaven, Emory University, and Little Five-Points do not want the same reforms as voters in North Fulton and East Cobb Counties. Osoff was trying to peel off voters in those areas with money from radical Hollywood or New York Leftists and rabid environmental activists. It was a mix that could not be mixed.

He (Ossoff) was telling district constituents their priorities were superior to Nancy Pelosi's and the Congressional Democrats' opposition to Trump's reform initiatives but his message simply was not believable to voters. Black Congressman John Lewis campaigned for him while opposing Trump's tax and budget cuts. Pelosi and Chuck Shummer have called Trump's budget priorities dead on arrival, while Ossoff was simultaneously running T-V and radio ads claiming he had himself identified 600 billion dollars in wasteful spending he was ready to vote out the Federal budget over Shumer's or Pelosi's desires! 6th district voters weren't buying it.

In the end, it simply wasn't a believable message. Ossoff could not square his massive support from tax and spend Liberals with his promises to reduce Government's size and spending. His campaign was financed by some of the most ardent proponents of "tax and spend" Liberalism while he asked for the votes of residents who were demanding bigger "tax and spending cuts".

Ossoff's problem is also the Democrat's ongoing problem as they look for a message to counter Trump's reform agenda. Their radical rabid base wants them to run harder to the Left...embracing both higher taxes and more muscular Government spending on things like single payer Health Care, and unlimited taxpayer funding of Abortions. Meanwhile a vast majority of that district and the nation reject that message in favor of fiscal restraint, balanced budgets and tax reform.

Ossoff tried to convince skeptical 6th district voters he was on their side, (even though he also didn't live there) but when voters in this reform minded district looked at all sides of him, they simply saw a two faced politician more beholden to the Left wing of his party, the money they fed into his doomed candidacy, and the extremist Leftists who's votes he needed to win rather than the reform minded voters of the district who reject Leftist income redistribution.

When you try to be all things to all people, or even worse something to the voters you are not...you simply end up being nothing except a loser named "Ossoff".
