He’d be a huge get. From what I’ve heard, he’s a big-time talent.

Times certainly have changed when we have to go to the UK to find our point guard. It wasn’t that long ago that Brits didn’t know the difference between a basketball and a bowling ball.

Let me tell you something there's only one thing that actually matters when it comes to a point guard and if they're good there then you go to the rest of the things that you look at:

Point guard defense. If they can't guard other point guards they're not worth messing in the college basketball style game. 100,000%.

I just got done talking about this in another thread.

Why did Pope have a chance in his first year? Lamont Butler.

Point guard defense.

This year? MIA

Another great point. It’s why I believe we need an exceptional athlete at that position. Defense, creating and ability to get to the rim and finish like the poster above said.

Another left handed point guard. Hope he stays healthy! Heard it’s harder to rebuild an offense when a left-handed point goes down with an injury vs. one that is right handed. 🙄

pope isnt a defensive coach. bringing in athletic, defensive players failed us this year. pope couldnt coach a team like that. my guess he probably feels like if he is going to go down, he is going to go down doing what he knows. while i think you are right...i can see why pope is interested in this guy.

get guys to fit your system and see what happens.

I think the highlights I saw last year for Jelavić from his Serbian team were sped up. He looked really fast. Maybe it was the competition.

not just competition but style of play. look at how much room there is in the paint. its like 3 people on the court compared to college. its easy to do a lot of the things in those highlights when you arent getting bumped the entire time and another guy reaching in.

that being said, he is older, seemingly mature. has good shooting stats. and a good assist to turnover ratio. i think he fits what pope wants to do. so theres that.

Just had 10 points vs Fenerbahce on Friday. EuroLeague is legit basketball.

That Fenerbahce club has BJ Boston, Talen Horton-Tucker, Wade Baldwin IV, Chris Silva, etc

He’s a big risk due to the lack of predictability on how he translates compared to a power conference player but there’a also the advantage of not having to wait for the portal to open to have the most important position locked down(the starter at least)

How many players from UK, have played at UK?

I can only remember two off the top of my head. Amari Williams last year and Morakinyo "Mike" Williams during that fever dream last team Tubby had.

last years top PGs:

pj haggerty - this season averaged 23ppg and 3 apg for a bad ksu team that fired their coach. had a huge price tag that no one wanted to pay
bennet stirtz - 19 ppg and 5apg for iowa, just helped beat florida to go to the sweet 16
donovan dent - 13/7 for ucla, slow start but turned it around. dont think he would have fit at uk, small and shoots it poorly from 3
rob wright - 18/4 at byu, improved a bunch from his freshman year. future stud

i'd imagine if you bring in quinn, you do it to be the starting PG. that 8-10 points a game in 25 minutes of action has to take a leap forward to 12-14 points. i dont know how possible it is to sell lowe on a back up PG role but that would probably be about as good as pope can do.

The risk with the portal is those names dry up fast…and it’s how they ended up with Lowe. Miss on Dent, Dedan, Demary then be left holding the bag. Also you gotta convince a team of guys to join/stay. Would be nice to have the PG in place when trying to do that.

Supposedly Adidas is involved with him somehow. Not saying it's a "done deal", but the Louisville people on the NIL side think they have a very good shot at landing him.

Unless Lowe wants to take a serious drop in class he’s gonna have to compete no matter where he goes. I can’t image anybody good bringing him in and just anointing him as the starting PG, especially now that he has an injury history.

He looks good against bums in whatever Euro league. CBB is the second best league in the world. Could this guy's game transfer?

Quinn Ellis plays for Olimpia Milano in Italy's Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and the EuroLeague, elite-level competitions.
The EuroLeague is widely considered the second-best league in the world after the NBA, featuring high-level, physical, and professional basketball where Ellis is a solid contributor”

They were all injured. Have you not been paying attention? It’s why we sucked. The 3rd team all ACC man bun PG got hurt and the season went straight to hell. Either that or Pope just sucks and can’t coach.

I have zero confidence in Pope's ability to land this guy.
If any other high major wants him, Pope ain’t getting him!

Does everyone realize how easy it will be to recruit against Pope this offseason?

We thought this season sucked? Hold the presses, it’s going to be down right cringe worthy 💯💯

Watch any incoming freshman's highlight video against high school players...

The competition on this video is much better than that.
