I seen they are evacuating people around Lake Lure area to higher ground due to possible Dam failure. That’s not good

Evacuations have been issued as far down the river as Cleveland County.
Lake Junalaska in Waynesville is also having people evacuated for fear of a possible failure . Hayesville is getting light rain with some occasional strong wing gusts.
Seen a photo of Freedom high school football field. It’s bad. Looks like a lake out there on the field
Lake Norman opened their flood gates and now Mt Island is over whelmed.
My prayers sent to all of you down in western NC! I just saw a clip of where I-40 washed into the Pigeon River. I got on Google maps and almost every major road had the red closed symbols on it. I have never saw that on there before. GOD bless everyone down there in that and Prayers sent from West Virginia! If there is anything we can get together and do to help keep us posted.

It's not good. I keep seeing updates of homes being completely under water, no communications, no cell phone service. It's going to take years to recover from this.
I have seen pics and videos from all over WNC, total destruction. Prayers for everyone.

It’s really bad. What stinks is no cell phone service. Avery Co is really bad. I’m in Johnson City right now. Was able to get a generator today.

It's devastating around here no power unless you have generators Chimney Rock was completely destroyed the green river cove area of Polk county is completely unpassable top side coming from saluda had the side of the mountain slide down bottomed side flooded along river destroyed all the roads all homes along river are lost some people living farther off the river took in neighbors there have been a few people hike there way out. There is no power no cell service all the main towns from landrum in south carolina toward ashville have no power or spotty power basically all of Polk county is out of power. We heard they are flying people out of lake lure and chimney rock in helicopters because there is no other way to reach them all road ways in and out are completely gone.
I hate that so bad for these poeple I have problems of my own but I look at event like this and realize my problems are minor I work in SC some and that Saluda river is huge I imagine it's a mess along it's banks
This makes Hurricane Matthew look like child's play. Just unreal.
This going have ramifications for playoffs - Some team may miss out bc this is going take Weeks to Months to get towns , schools and etc back in working shape but ofc football games are least important things rn for Mtn communities
There are going to be school districts that will be lucky to get back in the building before Christmas if not longer.
I made it out of Bakersville yesterday on only route available at the time into TN and made it to Newport News VA at my daughters and her husband's place. like everywhere Mitchell county is just devastated water higher than I ever thought it could and wind that you never see in the mountains. Of course no power , water or cell service which makes it even worse because people who don't live there anymore are worried sick like my daughters were because of no communication.
It is unreal how fast and devastating this can happen. You don't expect it to happen in these areas

My son contracts with NCDOT out of Boone. He was in Avery Co. today and said it was horrible up there.
My family has to evacuate and are safe. Marion and especially Old Fort and North Cove are really bad.

We supposed to play South Stokes tomorrow night. Isn't there a rule if school is cancelled then no athletics?
Our church took 5 loads of water and non perishable foods up there today. Mainly towards the Burnsville area.
Usually up to the LEA I think.
Just seen there is possible Bee Tree Dam failure and for people to evacuate in Bee Tree valley and downstream Biltmore area

Surry County Schools and MA City are feeding anyone tomorrow in cafeterias at High Schools. You can go and charge phone and shower also at Surry County HSs tomorrow if you are still without power.

Lot of unknowns about what will happen with HS football up in the areas that where effected. People are still in state of shock probably. Just trying to figure how to deal with the situation and move on with their lives.
