7th grader playing varsity & looking good! Pope...go get him ASAP. If he works hard he has potential to be crazy good. Much better looking shot at the same age as dad.

Who knows how good he’ll be but he sure looks like his dad.
Maybe he can teach our current players to shoot layups.
I hope his dad is an assistant coach for Kentucky by the time he's ready to commit to a school.

Plays just like his dad, always attacking and looking for the assist. Finishes at the rim. If he has a jumper or gets one he will be good. He just needs a solid growth spurt here the next couple years and he’s cooking with gas.
Looks like he’s playing For North Oldham High School. Wonder if he will stay there our wind up at a prep academy at some point?

Remember rondo was diferent because he had monster size hands for his size. He had like the second largest hands in the nba ever.
I noticed the same thing, but why settle for a 15-footer when you can easily score on a layup or dish it to a teammate for easy baskets. He is simply doing his job.

Kid is just a seventh grader still going through puberty, playing at a high level against kids several years older. I seriously doubt he stays at North Oldham once he reaches High Scool. Have to think he will be on the AAU circuit and going someplace like Oak Hill or IMG Academy. He will be one of the top kids in his class.
My son has been playing with/against him for a while now. Well known this kid won’t be around here much longer. Hes destined for greater things than other players in this area.
He has an incredible skill set for his age and is poised well beyond his years. He has a lot of the recognizable tendencies of his dad, but what do you expect, his Dad is the one teaching him.

Said the same when they talked about him being under Redick. There is no way in the world Rajon Rondo is an assistant to a coach he does not have reverence for or does not consider at the very least to being his equal.
I believe they call players like that high IQ players unless you are looking for a reason to be critical. Lol
Rondo is listed at 5'8" , fairly tall for a 7th grader, but you never know how much more a youngster will grow. He is the 6th leading scorer on his North Oldham team, averaging 6.6 ppg. According to the Riherds scoreboard site, he is 7-12 (58.3%) from 3 point, 12-13 (92.3%) from two point, and 11-14 free throws (78.6%). Certainly, he is someone to watch for as a "legacy recruit" for UK, but it will be five years before he becomes a high school senior. I think it virtually certain that he will transfer to one of the national basketball academy schools you see on tv. It is pretty rare for a nationally ranked recruit to stay at a rural, small time school like Reed Sheppard did.
Rondo did have straight up alien hands.
He was different because he was different though. Arguably the purest point guard to play the game.
He was like the Dennis Rodman of PG’s, scoring was a last resort when he couldn’t find any possible way to set up a teammate.
Elite defender and insane rebounder, I don’t think they’ll ever be another one like him.
That crap drives me crazy. I didn’t hold my son back, because why would I. It’s damn near universal when he runs into another kid that is just too good, that kid is a year older. Very rare for that to happen against a kid his same age.
He’s a pg with slightly above average height, but he’s a midget against these older kids. A year is a ton in terms of development at that age.
I worked at a sporting goods store for a few years, and Rondo came in once. He was browsing a stack of t-shirts, and I was shocked to realize his hands were approximately the same dimensions as the stack of folded t-shirts. Biggest hands I’ve ever seen.
One of my favorite memories of Rondo was when his Oak Hilll team came to North Laurel to play in a Tournament. A guard took a shot on Rondo and Rajon blocked the shot by actually catching the ball in mid air with those huge hands and ran down court for a Monster Jam. I figure guy still wakes up at nights from the nightmare of Rajon guarding him.
