Don't forget 'Fire KF' that has been the call in 20 of his 27 years here. No game will be easy, not with this D giving up so many points now. Good news, Illini, who put up 450 yds vs OhioSt, lost their qb.
OK Debbie fan. D only gave up 18 points when it mattered vs Washington and the only team that's scored more than 19 besides them is OSU. They'll be fine against the rest of the schedule.

at this juncture every opponent on rest of the schedule is very formidable. no gimmes at all
also unwise to discount mn just because pu depantsed them. iowa has lost horribly on the road before and bounced back against solid teams (e.g 2016 psu beating followed by win against top-5 mi). afterall mn has beaten wa on the road and also defeated mi far more comfortably than we did. i don't expect this to be an easy game
Throwing around that formidable term pretty loosely there fella.

I expect Nebbie to do their annual second half of the season belly flop. They will lose three more before traveling to Iowa City.

Northwestern is legit good and will be in their fancy new stadium. The Cats are the biggest challenge.

PJ will want to beat Iowa really bad but the Hawks have the better team. Wisconsin is in Kinnick on Halloween.
speaking of Halloween, I remember one year early inthe Hayden Fry era when Fry reached very deep into his bag of tricks to win a game on that date. KF, not so much for the prestidigitation.

I'm reaching back in my memory, was that the Illinois game 1982? 3rd and 27, Eddie Phillips went around left end for 28 yards.

Hard for me to select beyond Nebraska and Northwestern....all kind of even after that. Minnesota NEEDS the game vs us as they have a rough stretch down the road. I can see them at 6-6 at the end of it all. Also difficult based on whois QB1. If we have 6 games, most of which the opponents are not concerned about our pass game some of this ranking the toughest games might be moot. They will all be potentially tough.

Ya I’d put Illinois, Minnesota, wisky, jNW all ahead of Nebraska.

Illinois qb is out for a while with an injury (broken wrist). Defense has been awful against the run and most know but for those who don’t big Bert brought in new DC. Fired after 4 games. New DC switch to 3-3-5 because of lack of DL depth and talent. They’ve been awful against the run and in general. Minus game being at champagne could be weakest team left in my opinion.
Very good chance Memorial Stadium will be 25% full at kick-off and then will drop from there....😉

The Illini and everybody in the stadium were expecting a pass downfield. Eddie's run was jaw-dropping.

Edit: If you can find the film, the Iowa blocking was perfect.

NW is playing incredibly well with by far the most difficult offense for us to defend. And it’s on the road though I think it will be 60% Iowa fans. Nebby will not beat us playing our game. @Northwestern is possibly the only game left that we won’t be favored in.

I'm not sure about 60% Iowa fans. Isn't their new capacity about 35-thousand?

Anyway, a Hawkeye fan who wants to buy tickets for the NU game is probably going to have to pay $$$ plus $.

If we played again do you think we would play any less conservatively? Because we always pucker against them.
Probably not (Kirk ball). You'd have to look long and hard to find someone more critical of KFz's record against ISU.

But that's not the question. It's... is our run game better now than it was then? I'd suggest the answer is yes.

Their big opening night against Penn St had plenty of empty seats. I was shocked it wasn't sold out. NW still can't draw. Tickets are definitely more expensive. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

You mean like Kirk running that crazy fake punt/kick or whatever it was and throwing it back to the center because he was eligible with the line split out against OSU in 2017? Fry ever do anything crazier than that?

yes, but that was a bit of an anomoly. Fry had way more trick plays than Ferentz ever did or ever will.

Some of you guys still scared of Nebraska because of being 5-1 is outrageous. Until they actually prove they can win a big game of any kind the chances of them coming to IC and beating us is very low. Especially after a long season. We’ll hopefully be playing for a playoff berth! I like their QB but will be interesting to see how he holds up. NW by far the scarier team with Kelly as the o coordinator.

The most important game and toughest is Minnesota. Heard Pat Angerer today say all of Iowa's focus is on the upcoming game. The team is not looking ahead.

Fun for the network talking heads and fans to talk about bit you won't find that in the locker room.

The Swine is on the line in a week and a half.

I said in another thread that Iowa could win or lose every game left on the schedule less Purdue. Purdue surprised me in beating Minny so I've changed my tune a bit. Iowa can win all the games left, they could lose all of them as well.

One good thing is that there is that all of those teams are nowhere near as talented as fOSU.
I definitely agree with this.
