Is he British? If he was from here I would have heard about him. He looks British...sorry, I'm googling, trying to stay on top of the streets....Chicago, eh? Damn. Anyway, not my tea, but he sounds tailor made for today's faggy f-boi "rap". Kind of surprised he's not making waves, tbh.

Now, Hopsin. THATS underground. I have never heard anything like that. Sheesh.

Thanks, young man.

I've mentioned Hopsin to you multiple times.

His 'Fly' video is dope AF.

Or here's him dogging on "today" rap, which I also tweeted you.

That's great.

Thanks, guys. This rap thread has already surpassed the lofty expectations I had for it.

I agree, Mash. I picked up some good ish on this thread. Here's an example of a KILLER bass line that makes a mediocre rap sound like one of the classics!

People ask me all the time what is the difference between hip hop and rap. THIS track is rap (even tho it's more patois than rap). All reps to Nas to being a collaborator on this one rather than trying to one up Damian!

OK, rap heads. The Clash. "Magnificent Seven". Does this fit into the hip hop genre? The beat sure does.

Every time I want to totally give up on the rap game...I drop back to Young Sinatra III and get rejuvenated. Damn I love that "P***y wetter than Louisiana" line! (and the nod to Nas and AZ)

Lupe's best song is Deliver. Favorite part is at the end , "So sad, the pizza man dont touch with us no mo."

E40 corny ??? GTFO, so dumb. He jumps on Yo Gotti's "The Law' which you may or may not be a Gotti fan, IDRGAF, he is fire.

Loving the J-Cole ****. "Love yourz" and "No role modelz". Forest Hills Drive Live is damn good, watched the special on Showtime or one of the pay channels when he performed in Fayetteville.

Big Sean I know makes bangers for radio, but love his ****.

Not sure if you are serious ? You ever heard of Flying Lotus ? Never Catch Me featuring Kendrick Lamar came out on You're Dead, if you have not, check it out.
If a little old, but good track.

When I read this title I thought it was about perky titties, but it's about drugs, surprise! One of my fav from Future though. It sounds fresh and cool just like springtime, imo. More elegant trap sound with the piano.

RIP Phife

Come share some knowledge, old heads. I'm not a ATCQ historian.

This was part of a ATCQ x Busta collab that dropped just a couple few years ago.

Yeah, damn. Sad to hear about Phife.

Like Dave East.
Guilty pleasure is his song with China Mac.
I gave that Alchemist/Currensy tape a once over but it didn't catch me. Love Alchemist, maybe will give it another try.

Good grief, Mashburned.

How can anyone claim to be a Hip Hop expert when they don't know **** about ATCQ? Go lock yourself in a room and listen to Low End Theory, for starters.

[eyeroll]

Shutup, clown. I'm old enough to remember dubbing ATCQ **** off the radio. I know the basics, I just wasn't a fan boy or nothing.

Kick some knowledge, old man. I'm all ears.

It's simple, they are one of the best hip hop groups of all time, and 'Low End Theory' belongs on any legitimate Top 10 list, no matter your age.

Start there.

Mods please ban Barry, Ghost, and catsfagbyky

Son, I've forgotten more about rap and hip hop than you'll ever learn. I'm just spoiled because I was there when rap first started to hit the mainstream (Kool Herc, Big Daddy Kane, Coke La Rock). I'll give ya a dollar if you can say one syllable about Coke La Rock that you didn't have to Google.

Yeah, and most of that **** is Wack AF. :100points:

I appreciate all the pioneers, but it's terrible to listen to -- just as you're terrible to read.

Time to drop some knowledge. IF you've ever followed me in Music threads, I don't do mainstream because I assume you've already been there and done that (like your ATCQ post, which I DO respect by the way). Now if I wanted to do battle after that last post of yours...I would offer this link:

Then I'd hit ya with this one:

Then when you curl up in the fetal position, go to sleep thinking this:

Now that this is done...Kool Herc was the originator of looping, which every GD producer that has ever made a dime off hip hop owes his/her soul to. Big Daddy Kane was the first MC that broke out from neighborhood house parties to places outside NYC. And Coke La Rock was the first MC that dropped a verse...

"There’s not a man that can’t be thrown, not a horse that can’t be rode, a bull that can’t be stopped, there’s not a disco that I Coke La Rock can’t rock”.

You've got potential. But respect your elders. I saw Tupac back in the day when he was a collaborator MC...like on THIS track:

So tell me, was the young buck wack on this one?

Let's go back to ATCQ. We banged the hell out of this remix in the ATL. The original was hellacious because of that Minnie Riperton "Inside My Love" loop, but I favor this remix more because it was more of a house feel:

It's telling that a stone cold classic like "Lyrics to Go" wasn't the best track off 'Midnight Marauders". That alone tells us how sad the rap game is today. I go away and come back hoping the Renaissance has began. But it hasn't.
