Now this would interesting: Saints draft Sellers with the #2 pick

Can you imagine the irony of our last 2 QBs who played behind atrocious OLs being drafted into the NFL by the same team to play behind a bad OL?

Rattler has had a tough go of it, being winless so far. Mostly it's not his fault, but when the team is losing like they are, the QB always comes into the spotlight. Their last game against Seattle, the D allowed 21 points before most fans had a chance to take a sip of their beer, and the game was effectively over in the first quarter. Rattler has been good enough that if NO was good in other areas, they'd probably be a pretty solid team. He's not good enough, though, to singlehandedly overcome all their other deficiencies.

Things don't get any better as NO travels to Buffalo this Sunday. Some are already antsy for Shough to start, if only b/c that's the easiest change to make. I can see them getting throttled by the Bills, Rattler getting benched just because and then Shough getting the start in the next game against the terrible Giants and NO winning that game and Shough continuing to start because of that.

Rattler is a much better NFL qb than Sellers would be, Sellers is a better college qb than Rattler.

Yep, once you get pegged in the NFL, you're basically pegged for your career.

He's shown great ability with his arm with some beautiful passes this year.
Poor Rattler didn't even get to have glory days in college.

Although Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and even Daniel Jones are having a resurgence on their third or fourth team

Could you imagine our best two QBs and our Heisman winner being drafted by the Saints?!?

Show me the stats that prove your point. I think rattler better
If you look at the stats of Rattler's 1st Year at SC in comparison to Sellers 1st Year, Sellers accounted for more total yardage. Rattler had over 400 more passing yards. However, Sellers had over 600 more yards on the ground. Both threw for 18 TDS . Rattler had 12 Ints. Sellers had 7. Sellers had 7 TDS on the ground. Rattler had 3. That is the thing with Dual Threat QBs. It doesn't quite look the same as a Dropback guy, and many times the numbers of a Dual Threat guy slips up on you. I'm not calling who is better, because Sellers' story is not fully written. Just throwing the Stats out there since you asked.

What were Rattler's stats as a freshman?

I'll save you the trouble. Started all 11 games in his 2020 redshirt freshman season, throwing for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns with 7 interceptions, while also rushing for 160 yards and 6 touchdowns. He led the nation's freshmen in passing touchdowns, passing offense, and total offense during his 2020 redshirt freshman year.

I don't know why that matters because he was on a different team. So, the stats are sort of Apples and Oranges, but Rattler only threw for 5 more yards as a freshman than he did for us 2 years later. He did have 28 TDS. However, again different team and Sellers, as a Freshman, still had more total yards than Rattler as a Freshman.

Rattler didn't have a 12 game season his RS freshman year. You call it apples and oranges when that's what you were doing. I was comparing RS freshman seasons. It sure doesn't look like Sellers will have a repeat of last season. All development for Rattler stopped here under Beamer. Sellers will figure out the same I'm afraid.

...and Sellers missed a game and a half due to injury. I don't know why you are twisting in circles to make Rattler look better than he was and using stats that are irrelevant to Gamecock football to do so. To me both are about the same. Rattler a better passer and Sellers a better runner. A better comparison would have been Rattler's Senior Year with Sellers' First Year Stats. Same coach, Same OC. Rattler did win the Total Yards battle in that comparison by 82 Yards. Happy now? Still very close between these two with Sellers still accounting for 2 more TDs. (25 to 23).
