A running back coach is a recruiter first and foremost .You can’t really teach an average RB to be a great one.Being a RB is mainly instinct,vision and athletic ability.However a RB coach needs to do 3 things.
Teach assignments
Teach Ball security
Teach Pass protection.
But,His main job is find and recruit top talent.
The old coach was obviously doing his job poorly.
