I read this earlier. I thought he was a little rough on us. I think he had us at 13. If all of the top 16 were still in it, I would agree, but I thought we could have been a bit higher.

Yeah, I think he was basing it somewhat off how things went for teams this past weekend. Although, under that scenario it's hard not to keep Kansas at #1. Also, thought he was a bit generous to Gonzaga and Syracuse, but you have to give them credit too....they both cruised to the Sweet 16.

The big issue with our team is defense. We struggled to slow down UNC-W the whole game, and at one juncture in the second half Yale scored on eight straight possessions. We really struggle to get stops and put teams away. That's typically not a recipe for tournament success.

I'd put us number 1. Best coach and defending champs. Surviving when we weren't suppose 2.

Yes, I think that list is pretty flawed after the top 6 or 7. UNC-W was a very good #13 seed, and while we clearly had a terrible stretch against Yale, it is worth mentioning that we did have the somewhat unusual circumstances of being a pretty high seed that was playing down the street from the lower seed's home. This was not analogous to anything that any of the other top tier teams face, where they not only did not have hostile crowds -- but had enthusiastically partisan crowds that helped lift them through tough contests. With how that first half played out, I don't think there's any chance Yale would have been able to make that kind of serious run if that game had been played in Charlotte, for instance.

Personally, I would have Miami at 8 and have us somewhere around 9 or 10. With that said, I think our run ends on Thursday unless we play an absolutely flawless game. Unless Oregon shoots atrociously -- which they did against St. Josephs -- I just don't think we really match up very well against them. Don't think we can defend them in man-to-man, and our zone IMO is too porous against a team like Oregon that is very adept at shooting the 3 and penetrating seams.

With that said, you never know. I personally thought that UNC was going to run us out of the gym both times we played them, and we finished a combined -3 after 80 minutes of play.

I think that the list is pointless. I agree with theK school of thought. 6 1 game tournaments. The only thing that matters is Oregon, why entertain where Wisconsin ranks if we most likely will not play them?

Obviously the list is pointless. Most of the stuff on this message board and others is pointless. But we create topics of conversations....like how much a player stinks, who gets a de facto game ball, what we would do if we were K, why we're better than K, etc. Message boards are where pointless topics go to thrive.

Hating Carolina is not pointless, it's fun. Most of the stuff on here is entertaining and provokes conversation about the team and players that we love and especially in March. A list saying that we are the 12th or 13th best team left in the tournament remains pointless. The conversation has merit however.
