There are some great matches in there. Parris vs Wyatt, Yianni vs Gomez, and Zahid vs Keck should be awesome. Wick vs Hamiti is a good one as well. I understand putting the UFC guys in for name recognition but they should face each other like chandler vs Mendes. Carr wrestling Belal isn’t going to be competitive

Such a bummer. In a parallel universe somewhere Bo has World medals by this point in time. I feel like he is waisting his immense potential. Here, even wrestling matches are an aberration.

MMA ain't my bag baby.

I think Bo could have been a World Champ in freestyle at the senior level. That said, he had plans for MMA long before he finished his college career in wrestling. He, as well as his parents, told me in either his junior or sophomore season that he was locked in on transitioning to MMA after college. And this wasn't just a hope; it was well thought out and planned.

I saw one MMA match. It was on regular broadcast instead of PPV early on and I indulged prurient curiosity. I think one of the combatants was "Kimbo Slice", but I do remember a bloated ear belted and releasing a gusher of blood. I gave up watching football a decade ago or so ago, Steve Smith and Tim Shaw were the "last straws" in pretending that CTE and other neurological issues were a natural outcome of the game, rather than just a remote possibility. How much more danger is there when the objective is a "knockout", which is best achieved by punching the skull to induce rotation that the brain can't keep up with, as it is suspended in liquid.

I also though Jason Nolf was likely to persist on the world/Olympic stage, but he seems to have moved on to something else as well.

Jason was ranked Top 5 in the world and had beaten 2 freestyle world champs. He just couldn't get past Dake. From a wrestling perspective, a real shame -- especially with Dake since going up to 86 kg. But Jason found another opportunity.

That was the James Thompson fight! Man I remember seeing that live. Even though blood is a standard occurrence in MMA, that got a groan out of everyone in the room!

I remember watching Chris Weidman's tibia and fibula snapping in half when Uriah Hall checked him. We were at a fight night at our MMA gym (they set up a projector and screen and have a potluck - great times), there were 100+ kids there, luckily most of them were screwing around and not paying attention. We had to hit the pause for like 15 minutes and collectively decide if we wanted to watch the rest of the fights. I also was sitting front row a few years ago when my old Muay Thai coach got their orbital completely busted in the first round by an elbow, and he ended up winning the fight by decision. It's harder to watch when it is a friend...but we still love it.

I see the weight shown on the screen that Romero vs Downey are wrestling 205lbs. Im glad Bo didn't go vs Yoel. He still has it for a 50 year old. Dang. He just steam rolled PD3.

Well, Downey. We've seen his training footage:

There have been a handful of PSU dudes who wrestle like Nolf.
Just seem to wrestle angry... When Cael says make them not want to wrestle you again, this is what he means.
Nickal, Nolf, Zain, all punishing...
PJ and Barr are starting to have that look as well.
