College and university presidents lining up doing a pecker check. Conferences are not conferences. They are media buying groups. Student athletes are not students anymore...just free agent employees. Can't wait for Southern Cal versus Rutgers...now that's a matchup. Just eliminate all conferences and let each school find their own media deal and pay for view. Cut the bloated budgets and let the tide recede.

This all began way back when a school president decided to start paying coaches over 1 million dollars.

Stupid is a kinder and gentler word than I would use - I put this whole mess on the university presidents - they were in charge and did exercise proper oversight - just gave AD's free-rein. The presidents owned the product (college football - the most valuable sports product in the country) and let the TV networks dominate negotiations.
