What is Stoops suppose to say? His top recruiter just jumped ship when officials were taking play? Every UK fan knows it, pretty sure he isn't happy with the timing. I think it's more important he is able to find a replacement, because he is going to have to convince someone to leave less 2 months from fall camp.

That article wasn’t about anything Stoops said but what Marrow had supposedly said to Matt. CJ Conrad ran the tight end room b4 he got the EKU job and is rumored to be one of the options. Not like they’ll have a lot of options unless it’s out of work guys

Just a thought (opinion I guess) but the role has changed completely.

Marrow's recruits were talked up and pumped up, and many may have required more in terms of upfront money as well. Since they hadn't been panning out as well the last few years (and Goodwin is just one GREAT example of that), maybe that's why "his voice" might've been less important.

We couldn't keep spending money on players that either didn't work hard or hurt the team with their selfish attitudes, no matter how much talent and natural ability they have. It was clearly a problem. We need players that relish the opportunity and will work their assets off for it from day one forward. Like Josh Allen type of players.

Hopefully that's the direction to which we are returning. That's the athlete I appreciate and will support. Those are also the kids that are more likely to stick around and play their hearts out for the name on the front of the jersey as well as the back.

People believe what they want to believe. That's for sure. Matt Jones is a self serving charlatan. He is out for himself and he writes clickbait. How long has it been since Matt Jones fancied himself a United States Senator? For heaven's sake, if reading what Matt Jones writes supports your confirmation biases and makes you happy, knock yourselves out. The time will come that we will learn what really happened behind the scenes with Marrow, but the real truth won't come from Matt Jones or from Jeff Brohm's cousin Nick Roush.

And when we do learn the real truth, no one will be able to deny that Marrow, who manipulated pay raises over and over from UK for a decade by calling himself Mark Stoops' close friend, just screwed Stoops and UK over without so much as the simple courtesy of a heads up.

So if Matt Jones wants to lay down public cover for his buddy Marrow, well, two peas in a pod there.

What I can't understand why so many people who hate and disrespect the University of Kentucky and its employees this much are so obsessed with spewing it over and over on this website. Surely those miserable folks have something better to do.

You got it half right. Obviously, Marrow is playing the card and having Matt Jones present it for him, which Jones is more than happy to do because it brings attention and clicks. But I see no evidence that UK or Stoops is playing any public card whatsoever. At UK, it is business as usual, still recruiting and getting commitments.

Agree about MJ. As for Marrow - pretty much agree with your take on him, also. Stoops is no dummy, imo. There's another thread that states Marrow's 'hit' rate for his recruits was about 30%. MJ spun what looks like Marrow's poor recruiting performance into 'he didn't like that his voice didn't carry as much weight as it used to'. Well, maybe because Stoops finally recognized that an unacceptable percentage of kids Vince recruited didn't pan out for whatever reason and he quit believing the Big Dog BS. I think any reasonable manager would quit listening to an employee whose opinion is consistently wrong, don't you?

This is bad optics, but I don’t think it really hurts the program. Marrow is nothing more than a BS’er…a used car salesman. He’s good at BS’ing recruits and donors, and that’s it. I doubt his football knowledge is any better than several on this board. Now, we loved our used car salesman when we were doing well. Now that a lot of his recent recruits have turned out to be clunkers… we won’t miss him one bit.

Kentucky football has been in a rapid decline for the last 2 seasons, and really 3, and one of the biggest reasons for that is Vince Marrow. Good riddance.

Listening to him, and reading his tweets, he seems borderline illiterate. He’ll fit right in at Louisville.
