At this point, everyone was so hyped up about the prospect of this season but then stumbling out of the gate has BBN worried. I would suggest we just stop anticipating a Final Four run and sit back and watch how the season unfolds without the vitriol and spewing. No one is hurting more than Pope ... no one. If he has the ability, he will figure it out and turn things around. Obviously, adjustments MUST be made and if Pope won't or can't make those adjustments, I think he will choose to move on without holding the program back. We should all just lower our expectations for the year and see how the season unfolds. We may all very well be surprised. Pope is one of us and is genuinely a good man. Have a little grace and give him some time. No one wants it more than he does.

Brother, a FF run left my mind several weeks ago. Zero expectations of a run like that.

As far as giving him time, I give him game to game against teams with a pulse. He needs to pull it together or this will be like the NFL, Not For Long.

I feel really bad for him, but he is making more $$$ in a year than I will make in a lifetime, so I think he will manage, regardless of what happens, which I believe will be a resignation at season’s end.

What really sucks for him though, is this is happening so early in the season, and the SEC hasn’t even started yet. I just hope the players don’t all hypothetically quit on him, and make it that much worse, because it has the potential to go completely off the rails still.

He’s not resigning in his 2nd year.

UK basketball has been dead since about 2019. We have 3 NCAAT wins in 5 seasons. The natives are ******* restless.
You're right. We have entered the gate of Indiana territory. Now the question is, will we close the gate behind us and walk in or turn around leave the territory behind

My guess is he is here for 3 years at the least. If he wasn't on the 96 team or played for UK He would be let go at the end of the season like Billy G. I think because of who he is he gets 1 additional year. And if this year is worse than last (Trending that direction), and there is no massive improvement in year 3, I think Pope will walk or get fired (Hopefully have a new AD at the time)

I can easily agree with this.

Final Four? FINAL FOUR???? your talking about the making the final four? there isn't a single UK fan that thinks that is possible. We may not make the tourney. to make matters worse Pope has missed on every top recruit he has gone after. we have no one for next year except what you see now. There isn't a single good thing about this program. we are terrible, and all signs point to that continuing for the foreseeable future.

I feel for Pope too. He clearly loves the University more than any other coach. I would love for him to get it to work but he has some changes to make. He needs to figure out how to get the players. Maybe he just screwed the pooch this year and overreacted to last year but with he needs to communicate that or he’s going to lose the fanbase fast. That’s going to be tough without losing the players but he may already be there.

He better land a Stoke/Collins etc and find a recruiter who can bring in the difference makers. Playing guys 20-25 minutes a game isn't attracting players. He needs to fix that fast.

I think Pope can fix his X’s and O’s quickly if he quits the nonsense of substituting like he does and attracts High D1 talent.
