In more than a half century of watching the Cats play basketball, I have never seen them control the offensive glass like they did against USC. At times, I had deja vu taking me back to tip drills in high school. Can anyone remember a more dominant game by the Cats in this regard?

That one sequence of like 6 offensive rebounds before getting the foul was amazing.

To answer your question, I looked through Kenpom's database. The last time we had a higher offensive rebound percentage was January 25, 1997, when we beat OSU 78-47 (which remains our largest margin of victory over OSU ever), and rebounded 17 of our 31 missed shots, led by 6 from Carvell Ammons.

Funny enough, the previous time before that game was during the same season, November 26, 1996 against Central Michigan.

Though it's not the only explanation that's all this guy USC had playing on the court was 6'7 we had two 7-footers

No, all I can remember is being surprised on the occasions that we got an OR

Conversely, we have had two games in the Kenpom database where we did not record a single offensive rebound. The most recent was February 12, 2005, in a 64-54 loss at Iowa, where we got zero o-boards on 25 missed shots; the other game was January 22, 2000, in a 69-45 loss at future national champion Michigan State, where we did not grab any of our 26 missed shots in the game.

We've also had two games where we got a single offensive rebound - February 15th, 2006 at Illinois in a 63-47 loss, and March 7th, 2015 at Iowa in a 69-52 loss coming just after the Tre Demps Michigan game.

It was definitely part of Carmody's game plan that the guys put up a three and immediately fall back to the other side of the court, so very little chance of getting offensive rebounds unless the shot goes really long.
