Wow alot to cover here.
1. The whole Ivy offer deal has been a ball of confusion for all services. True, they don't offer athletic monies (also true for several but not all Patriot League schools...adding even more confusion) but they also play at the FCS level which does in general offer athletic money. So my take? From here on out if a kid adds an Ivy roster spot offer or a Patriot league offer....I'll add it as an offer. Again this is still not a clear cut rule at Rivals but for me this is how I will handle it. Just had this conversation a few days ago actually.
2. Rivals always has a state ranking and I contribute heavily towards that but Josh Helmholdt our Midwest guy has the final word. The link is the Top 20 Class of 2017 State of Illinois rankings from late February and will be updated and expanded soon. Also as far as the Top 5 deal that's my site only and I will also have a Top 30-40 soon. The Top 5 is to be considered a teaser and even if a kid is named in the Top 5 per position it does NOT mean they will be in the Top 30-40 etc.

3. Film absolutely matters. And kids getting offered as freshman and sophs (another whole discussion) have seen the varsity level and have film and in many cases have been personally evaluated by college coaches. I also try to see as many kids in person as possible before making an evaluation. I'm also one of the only in-state evaluators for Illinois who lives in Illinois FYI.
4. As far as getting ranked and having "offers" it's not a requirement...but I also won't pretend that it's not a factor because it is. Then again why would a college "offer" a kid unless they feel that same kid is a better overall recruit than a kid not offered? Again for me one of the most overrated parts of this industry is the star ranking and parents and coaches weight way too much into it and it just gets worse every year. I actually like how Rivals handles it compared to others...we don't "rank" everyone and I hope we never do that again unlike in the past.
5. As someone who has made it my mission to find as many kids worthy kids who could play at the next level over these past 20 plus years...I get a bit bothered by the "invisible" comment. I look at as many kids as possible all year long. Unfortunately in this era between the all season long hype men and services, AAU coaches, insane parents and more...parents and kids just don't want to hear no. I'm never going to "find them all" but God knows I try my best. I also list my full recruiting list on the EDGY Nation side which includes nearly 300 kids in 2017 and another 100-150 in 2018/19 and those are expanded daily. No one that I'm aware of makes those lists available to the public.
Also as far as the Twitter offers most are legit but some are crap....and I also feel I go above and beyond compared to others and in many cases have the ability to "backcheck" those offers. Again I'm not perfect not even close....but I try. The same can be said of every other person in this industry.
