Another thread sparked an idea that has been gnawing at me. If you look at our press guide, we seem to have OL and DL guys that have "SEC measurables." You know, 6-5, 315 lb linemen that makes us think we can compete with the big boys. When you see most of them on the field, they look chubby, slow, unathletic...at least when compared against top shelf SEC linemen who are big, strong, and athletic.

Would we be better served trying to recruit the smaller, quicker, more athletic linemen who always seems to give us fits? USM ran it at will against us with 6-1, 280 pound guys who had leverage and could move our taller, less athletic guys backward. Is a 6-5, 300 lb lineman actually WEAKER than a 6-1 280 lb player? I don't know. What say you?

Nutrition and weightlifting can build the body, good coaching can teach technique, but no coach will make you quick. Quickness and speed is what the SEC is all about.

The issue is there aren't many 6'5" 300+lb guys who can play, and everyone wants the ones who can, The issue that a good big guy is going to beat a good smaller guy, Our 1 OG and C struggle to get to 290 and we are having huge issues trying to move those 300+lb guys. UNC's DT were around 300 and we created holes all night, Nichols St. had 2 in the 315 pound range and Missouri had a couple in the 325+ range and we had huge issues with them
