Lets say we hire Frost. Some of our current commits might look at his record down there and the excitement of what they are doing and say hey I can dig that. He's throwing it a bunch down there and he's running a similar defensive scheme it sounds like so you would think the potential is there to keep the defensive recruits and maybe the WRs. One thing everybody should appreciate is how and his staff sells Nebraska. He doesn't get enough credit for that .

Who isn't getting credit for selling Nebraska? Frost?

Those players aren't going to be current commits by the time we hire a coach.

If it's Frost as the next HC, there is this interview with his DC. Appears he is a multiple front guy.
Q: Where you've been in the past you've run a 3-4 defensive front. Is that what you envision for the UCF defense going forward?
A: "Is there going to three down linemen? Yeah, maybe. Sometimes, sometimes not. The thing I don’t understand – you guys know more about it than I do now – you know, there's a three-technique, a five-technique and a one-technique. This guy's got his hand on the ground and now it's a 4-3. Now he's standing up and it's a 3-4. It's going to be a multiple defense. Sometimes it'll be four guys with their hands down, sometimes three."
Also this
Q: So what can you tell the UCF fans what kind of defense it's going to be?

A: "Well, other than what we've already talked about? You know I think in this day and age of the way offensive football is going, the way to win games on defense is sacks plus turnovers minus explosive plays. We want to get the ball back in these guys' hands as much as possible, so we have to be aggressive, we have to take some chances. But the kids are going to have fun. You're going to see a fast brand of football out there where kids are playing hard and trying to get the ball."

Same premise as Diaco.

The particulars of approach may be different. UCF's DC seems to favor a more aggressive style of defensive play. But yea, the desire the be "multiple" is a goal of both.

They both value limiting the big play (big surprise, the analytics say if the only stat you win is Yards Per Play you are supposed to win about 90% of the time). They both want effort and flying to the football. They both use essentially a hot dog free roaming athlete on the edge that does a little bit of everything and they both play multiple fronts.

Chinander seems to put more emphasis on sacks, Diaco seems to take them if they happen, but wants to keep his effort towards the "no crease" side of things.

It seems they'll both win the same award (Broyles) for their efforts.

I was referring to the apprehension for calling his defense a 3-4.

We'll loose some guys either way that are verbals now - because even if MR is retained it will be under a cloud. If MR is gone - yes a few current players will bail and almost 100% Little Key won't be back. Frost will likely bring a few players he is already recruiting. I think a new staff will likely retain our best recruiters (1 or 2 coaches) - they know who is interested that might be waiting to see if there is a coaching change. I am not that concerned - the overall class rating may dip a bit but more important Frost fills the holes to run his offense (QB especially - but might need a few JC transfers as well).

So Frost is already hired?

If its Frost/Chinander, there won't be a defensive scheme change

"With Arkansas still potentially looking to shift primarily into a 3-4 defense next season, Chinander could be a perfect fit. It’s the same scheme he’s implemented at UCF and worked in at previous stops, including the 2013 season with the Philadelphia Eagles."

He plays a more aggressive style, but the body types should roughly be the same.

That's all I care about-- you cant have this "Blackshirts" thing and run a bend but don't break, non-aggressive D. I would like for us to have a fast, aggressive D.

I think most would like us to have a top rated D, whatever style is played.

If we had Notre Dame's 2012 D, no one would care.

Didn't Lee get to transfer because the new Tulane coach ran a different offense?

Gotcha, don't believe everything Little Farentz says. Lee still had to sit out a year. He did win an appeal to get a 6th year, but that was due to a number of issues including injuries that cost him alot of time.

I doubt the next coach will run a 3-4 D. Lucky for us it has only been in place for a year. So our players can easily switch back if need with little effort.

I wouldn't really say it's lucky for us. We weren't very good in the 4-3 either. Some had to do with Banker. Some had to do with not having great players.

Wrong. Went from 15 to 18 and will probably grow to 20 or more once Riley is fired.
You only got 15 spots open. You can't plan to fill more than that...Tuco logic. Oh wait, it's only when a coaching change happens that attrition occurs?
