a few northeast guys have mentioned over the years its hard to adapt to the culture change. JO almost left , Alex Meade , Sammy Alvarez
No real college downtown either. OKST has zero appeal unless your decision entirely based on DT and wrestling legacy. I would take Iowa City or Happy Valley no question (or NB!)

It’s not about winning a major tourney, or state title.. yes they count but it’s more about the competition they beat.. that usually leads to the high ranking. Says he’s a U17 World Medalist…
I was surprised to see him #2 at his weight too but he probably had a big win somewhere to earn it.
Maybe he has a big win at super 32 or somewhere like that . I guess I just disagree with folkstyle ranking using free style results. U 17 medalist doesnt guarantee college Folkstyle success. Robert Howard was u 17 champ, heck Richie Lewis won U23s then didn’t even AA

I remember seeing Jordan Oliver talk about older Guys on the team making him go night hunting for raccoons from the bed of a pick up truck his true freshman season. Not much to do but wrestle down there. Probably AJ Ferrari problem, he had nothing to do after practice but shoot guns and bully people, maybe a downtown could’ve saved him and John Smith some grief

What’s a Pied Piper mean lol.. looks like everyone was after Owen to get Basset lol.. not surprised he flipped to VT.
I never heard of Owen before he committed to IA with Bo…had an OK sophomore year and don’t think he was in the BM line up junior year?

Even we were recruiting Owen before Basset commited. Apparently he’s best buds with Basset. He’s not a top 100 recruit but he’s teammate’s with Basset at BM. Yeah he’s been juggled up and down the lineup.

I never really realized the story of the Pied Piper was a sinister tale and not a fairy tale until just now. Always thought the jist of it was when one leads, the others will follow. I applied that premise to Bassett and I'm curious to see who follows him to VT and if they become more of a power in wrestling.

I was really hoping Coluccio would end up at Rutgers , I know he has had some attitude issues but I think he may have more long term potential then the Kennys

Do u feel Coluccio has more upside than Farnsworth, Esposito, and Chunko? Realistically, they all around same weight and we can’t get them all.

Higher long term potential then both the Kennys is a bold statement as both are top 10 class big board recruits. I wonder why u feel this way.

Watch he ends up having a career like Eddie Ventresca(another NJ lightweight that went to VT).

Guys develop. Cassar wasn't gonna be good either until he was. You never know who may be good Rutgers has one of those guys at 184 right now.
Whatever. We have guys at that weight coming in just as good. Just dont think in todays Penn St a guy who is 145 is making the lineup at least as a regular starter. I mean the depth is insane right now. See this weekend. But not everyone can be those guys so good for him. Hope he succeeds.

He made 1 state tournament and won it. Soto has won 2 state titles and has 2 years remaining and he made a Fargo final. My point is we don't know how guys will turnout

No, we don't, but can we afford to take the chances? Penn State can, but doesn't need to, when they get multiple top guys at every weight. By the time their new 113-pounder arrives and is maybe 125, they'll also have the guys that are there now, plus the newest, greatest recruits like Lilledahl. Rutgers can't get any of those guys, so will take the tiny guys on a wish and a prayer. I do like Smith and keep hoping he'll gain size. He's very good, but gets controlled by the bigger, stronger guys. I wish Rutgers had a better strength and conditioning program.

I think there’s a big diff in investment on walk ons compared to guys you gotta spend $$ on. If someone spending $$ on 3+ guys same weight then I guess got extra $$.

Walk ons are great. The more the merrier, if they develop great, if not, it was a freeroll anyway.

Cael took more scholarships instead of rev share $ . He wants to have 30 scholarships. So walk ons won't be a thing
