Yes, I always have the same recurring dream that I am back in high-school living in my old childhood home. There is always one class at the end of the day I dread going to, I have completed zero class/homework and know I’m going to fail. I ride the school bus home as a grown *** adult even though I have a car, all the people I went or rode the bus with are gone. Usually dreams like this are because there is something in your life that is missing or yet to be done.

Walking through a shopping Mall is another dream I seem to have for some reason...

When I was in the hospital with a broken leg, I was on Ambien and Percocet at the same time and the two nights I took Ambien I had a dream that they were taking me in my hospital bed to get an x-ray, only all the people in the hallway were headless and there were geysers of blood shooting from where their heads would have been.

Fun times!
Headless people walking around was a common dream for me as a young pup. Also arms coming out of things like walls, floorboards of the car grabbing you etc.

Used to have a rapture and nuclear war dream where I was always left behind but that stopped after I had a lucid dream. After a few more times I was able to make myself lucid dream anytime I wanted by thinking to wake up in the dream just before falling asleep. It stopped the nightmares and I don’t have them anymore, quit lucid dreaming after a year.

The nice side effect of lucid dreaming is you can make people you’ve lost appear, of course in a lucid dream you can make anything happen. About a decade later I watched a documentary on lucid dreaming and they were trying to get people to lucid dream on command at a university. They thought it could be a way of developing the brain to use more than the 10% that humans are estimated to use.

Does anyone else have dreams where the story picks up the next night where it left off the previous night? I feel like if I could record my dreams I could write books and movies off them alone. I once had a dream go on for like a month. It's just crazy.

I have 2 recurring dreams. The runaway truck and the crashing plane. That ANG plane crash in Georgia happened dozens of times before, but only in my dreams. The reality was horrible because I always woke up from the dream. Those poor airmen died for real

What are you currently taking? Prozac, zoloft, Lexapro, Paxil ?? . . . what's your poison?
Life.

Only time I take any meds is sometimes an allergy pill to battle the occasional bought with hayfever, Tylenol if I have a headache that just won't go the **** away, and any meds that get prescribed to me if I go to the doctor for something. I haven't had any doctor prescribed meds in over a year though.

I keep having a reoccurring dream that I am posting on a message board and two threads keep popping up: one a religious thread and the other a global warming thread. Each time each thread reaches 12+ pages.

Then a couple of months will pass...and then I will have the exact same nightmare. And the posts are all exactly the same. Every. Single. Time.

Anyone else experience this phenomenon?

I feel like a lot of people have their own unique versions of the "still in school" dream, but I had mine last night, in which it's the last week of class - always college for me - and I have a big paper due or it's the day of a big test, only I had been going to a different class all year long and hadn't done any of the work.

I've been out of college for 10 years. I've probably had this specific dream 20 times since then.

This happen to anybody else? Specifically the "still in school" dream?

I have been out of school for 27 years, and still regularly have that dream and/or variations of it.

The recurring dream that I have had lately is various different one night stands from my college days confront me as to why I haven't called them. Funny how they still look the same after 20 or so years.

I was in Aruba for a week and drank Balashi Beer for the first three nights. Each night I had a terrible dream where I had killed several people and the cops were after me. The 4th night I drank other kinds of beer - no strange dreams. The 5th night back to Balashi. Same terrifying dream. I haven't had a Balashi since, nor have I had that dream.

Did you have some of those beers with Joran van der Sloot?

**** i had a sleep paralysis-esque nightmare a few weeks ago. Had this "entity" hovering over me. I told it i was gonna punch it. Ended up swinging and hit the ol'lady in the chest while she was sleeping. Woke her up. Crazy ****.
I used to have sleep paralysis nightmares all the time. I would try to scream or punch, but couldn't coordinate my movements.

Last nights murder dream I just remember being pissed that I had to do something with the body. Kinda frustrated that I had to kill some ***. Tossed his body on a pile of scrap metal.

Pretty close but I’m supposed to check in to a huge football game and am always missing one item, usually helmet, sometimes jersey or whatever. All my family and friends there, coach yelling for me to get in.....run back to the locker room looking for it etc.....miss the game *every* time.

- work dreams. Worked with my Dad for 15 years, even longer counting HS and college. He died suddenly and unexpectedly, unfortunately. Was devastating. Anyways, I have work dreams with him in them all the time, couple times a week. In meetings with him and customers, employees etc....but he rarely talks. 95% of the time he’s just there and says nothing.

Oddly it’s not sad or anything, actually kinda cool to “see” him but we rarley interact. No doubt it’s my subconscious pissed I never got to say goodby to him, but what are you going to do.

Have the football dream from time to time. Most of the time I don't have my shoulder pads on, but sometimes I can't find my helmet. Dream about my parents and brother (all deceased) sometimes, which is nice.

One strange, recurring dream is dreaming I am at the beach, and a massive (probably 50+ ft) wave is approaching and I'm trying to warn everybody but no one pays attention.

Most terrifying dream was when I dreamed I had mistaken my daughter for an intruder and shot her. She was trying to tell me something but no sound was coming out and blood was pouring out of her mouth. Very realistic and when I woke up I was soaked with sweat and had been crying.

Cut out the Jagermeister after midnight and you will be fine. Otherwise hide all the Sharpies in your house or else....

I get sleep paralysis every once in a while. Have all my life. Any dreams associated with the episodes vary over time but always with a suffocation motif. Skydiving parachute was a couple weekends ago. Wouldn't wish the sensation on anyone.

Ha! I needed a couple of shots after that nightmare. I started work at 6:00 AM and I was on edge waiting for time for her to get up for her classes that day so I could call her. That's probably been 13 years ago when she was a junior at ETSU, and to this day I still vividly remember that nightmare.

Anyone else have the teeth falling out dreams? That's a popular one, can't remember what it means but it is amazing how people all have similar dreams.

I had dream like that once and was telling my aunt about it. My cousin, who standing nearby laughed and told me to ask my aunt what that meant. She said it was a representation of being sexually frustrated. Hope that helps

I have this recurring dream that I started a job with a new law firm and forgot to do/turn in time sheets for 6 months. The dread of being discovered and having to explain or recreate 6 months of time sheets is overwhelming.

Might explain why I no longer practice law. My mental health meant more.

Once in a while I have the “wanted by the popo/on the run” dreams. I get processed at the jail then I’m back on the street. Not sure Imif Im going to jail—plus can’t rationalize the crime I committed.

Wake up sick about it then relief it wasn’t real.

Used to have a recurring dream where I was running away from some unknown evil; running and jumping over roof tops on skyscrapers, through abandoned buildings, etc. Had that exact same dream @ 15 times but not in over a year now.

By far the worst dream I ever had was when my youngest son was about a year old. I dreamed he fell off a boat dock and drowned. I jumped in and dived repeatedly trying to save him but never found him. When I awoke from the dream I had tears streaming down my face. Just a terrible thing to dream of.

Now...on a lighter note.....

I once dreamed that, get this, I was taking a crap, on a fully functional toilet, at the end of an aisle in Kroger. The dream started when I had finished and needed to wipe, at that point I became very self conscience. Some people walked by me and never thought a thing about some guy taking a dump in the middle of Kroger, while others were looking at me like WTF? I remember thinking, "Well, this is embarrassing".

I've had many dreams where I'm nude in a nice hotel hallway and locked out of my room, lol.

30+ years later and I still have the "taking the final without ever having been to class" dream.
I used to have the "I can fly dream more often but still do from time to time.
I also have a recurring dream where I take off in a very small aircraft from a little runway outside a big city (NYC sometimes) and just cruise around between the buildings. Oddly cool.

Some more reoccurring:

  • I fly several times a week, so naturally I have plenty of plane crash dreams. It's usually where we are taking off, but there are trees / bridges / power lines in the way, and we don't clear them. Thankfully I wake up before we hit the ground.
  • Used to have the football pad dream. I recall stressing out about that when I was playing high school football - but didn't have the dream until years later. I haven't had that in over ten years though.
  • Speaking of football, I have dreams about being back on my high-school team, fully aware that I'm in my 30's. These actually make me quite sad because when I wake up I realize that part of my life is completely over.
  • I used to not dream about work, but I was on a very stressful project and would literally dream about explaining what was not going well to the client. Then I would wake up and have to go explain what wasn't going well to the client. That kind of sucked.
  • When I was a teen I used to have a dream where I was in a fight, but couldn't physically punch my opponent - I just couldn't punch no matter how hard I'd try. I had not really been in a fist-fight growing up - always afraid I'd hurt the other person, so my neighborhood fights were all wresting matches. Well, I went Forrest Gump at the Black Panther Party on some guy in my late teens, and that was the end of that dream. Boom!

I talked to someone about this phenomena recently and apparently the stress you are under as a student imprints your brain in such a fashion that it can produce those types of dreams years or in my case decades later.

Vladimir Nabakov (sp?) the famous author referenced by Sting/The Police in Don't Stand so Close to Me, made reference to the dream of attending a final exam, and never having attended classes as "the nightmare of all college graduates" in one of his books.

My recurring dream is I’m barefooted and have to use a public restroom. I have no idea why I dream this at least a couple of times a month.

My other recurring dream is I’m in a high rise building. The building starts swaying more and more, and I just know its ready to fall over.
