UMD also has 30,000 undergrads, almost 4x that of NU's.......and a rich basketball tradition. Apples to bananas comparison.

That’s precisely the point. Maryland — 5x the size of NU, with largely in-state grads — doesn’t fill up its own arena with its own fans.

I wish NU could pack the place, but it’s tough to pack the place.

What drove you to start following the Cats?

A few things got me hooked on the Cats.

1) a sucker for the underdog story.
2) a belief if the way NU goes about its business in an mostly honorable way
3) location -root for Chicago teams
4) good college sports product for the price
5) I admired Walker and now Fitz
6) most die hard fans I have met are decent people
7) my credibility sometimes increases when people think I attended NU
8) I can’t stand Illinois
