Do not care for him
He’s not getting consistent minutes which makes it difficult to get in a rhythm.
He most definitely needed another year here if for no other reason than physical strength. He would’ve been absolutely deadly in Popes system.
He tough. He be a'right. Keep at it. He's still so young.
I'm sure Arkansas Reed will be just fine .............. a few years from now on China circuit. If not China league I'm sure there's a student assistsnt chair on Arkansas bench.

It's hard for me to feel bad, he got his bag and he was treated like a Prince all season last year. I think he'll be fine in life.
He made 45 million. Somehow I think he will be fine. No one on here would have turned down that money and if they say they would have they are a moron or a liar or both.

Here we go with another thread where people don't understand the dynamics of the NBA draft and why guys go pro. You'd think after 15 years of Cal people would have understood it by now.

We understand, but many of us remember when people played for the love of the game, not just rushing for a bag. We get it, his rookie contract is enough to live comfortably for the rest of his life. That said, no way I'm offered a scholarship to play basketball at UK and don't play as long as the rules allow me.
Look, Reed would’ve made a TON of money either way it went though. I fully realize that money is of the utmost importance but there are some things/experiences that can’t be bought with money. I’m sure that Reed had the time of his life last year at UK and he would’ve been 3x’s the star this year, especially being coached my Pope! Pope would’ve never had this guy coming off of the bench all year! It’s jmo but Reed missed out on what would’ve been the best year of his life!

Everyone knew Reed benefited from a weak draft. Kid made the right decision. No way he ever would have been that high again.
I think this is really easy to say when we're just fans posting on a message board and a lot harder to actually do after you've played a year at UK and are basically handed a $45 million check.
Not sure we need updates on Arkansas fans.
Couldn't care less about a guy who accomplished nothing in his one year at UK.
I've been able to live a pretty happy life without anywhere near that much money. Money can't buy that experience for him now. Life is about experiences.

Anyone would have went pro when you are a lottery pick. It’s a jerk that supports the coach, who refused to start you, over the school and fans that supported you. He will be forever hated by BBN. I guess he thought he looked better in the hog jersey.
Perfectly said!!! Reed would’ve made huge money even if he would’ve stayed! He had it all here, no doubt! Listen to what DeMarcus Cousins says about wishing he had stayed.
Feels a lot like his early games at UK and several times where he looked to be lacking confidence. He definitely does not have that "alpha" mode at this time.

That's what I know. Hope he's better at learning another language than he is at the NBA. I would've given the kid the benefit of the doubt about getting his money. But I'll never forget the game day Arkansas shirt. That tells me everything about Reed.

His decision, but I did not think he was physically strong enough for the NBA yet.
Yeah there was nowhere to go but down. Even if Year 2 was remotely similar to Year 1 — no NBA team is taking Shepherd over Flagg, Bailey, Harper or some of the foreign guys.
I’m starting to wonder if his UK three point percentage might’ve been just a one season lucky fluke. He didn’t shoot at that level in high school and ain’t even remotely close to it in the pros.
He will be fine. Just gotta physically mature a bit and get a more defined role. He will be a very good asset once he figures it out.

But you can get stronger in the NBA and get paid for doing it.
Once you go pro, you can dedicate your entire life to basketball and your fitness. No classes to get in the way.
I assume he's struggling with confidence, and things will get better.
But honestly, if it was a hot/lucky season, going pro when he did was the right move.
If it’s only about money, I guess he made the right decision. As far as overall playing career, I think he would’ve benefited coming back. I could see him being a national player of the year candidate and a top 5 pick this year in Popes system. If you think that’s crazy, assuming he averaged around 17- 20ppg, 3+ assists, 40+% from three, UK a top 5 team, name 5 players in this years draft, you think would all be above him.
I wish Reed ended up on a team that was forced to play him minutes. He's a player that needs minutes to get going.
If someone had offered me a job with a $45M contract with $21M of it guaranteed, I'd have dropped out of college too. So would every single one of you.
Maybe his good shooting at Kentucky was because of the BRILLIANT offensive head coach that Kentucky had at the time……………(sarcasm)
