If I was a linebacker who wanted to play early, Nebraska would be the place. There is not a single linebacker that played this year who could not be beaten out by an actual playmaker.

From mich could this be a good sign
I don't possibly see how it could be a bad sign. Put that talent with Bray for a few years and he's got a legit shot at the next level. If I was looking for playing time and a coach to get me to the next level - it's all here for the taking.

Said to truly be between NU and FL.

In regards to the amount of spots left; many feel this will not be a problem of filling the class, but a "problem" of telling kids they cannot commit because we filled up. See the most recent "decommitt" (I believe).

he wanted to enroll early and couldn't or wasn't going to be allowed at Michigan

has visited Neb, TCU and Florida
The fact he wasn't allowed to was a message to him to find another school. When he committed he was being recruited to play either FB or LB and said he would be OK on either side of the ball. It quickly became apparent (to him) that he was wanted as a FB (we actually still use one, sometimes even two on the field at the same time, and as more than just an extra blocker) and he talked to the coaches saying he'd prefer LB. He even came up to our summer camp to prove he could play it (at this level). Over time that changed from him saying "being given a shot" at LB wasn't enough and that he was a LB period. It was just a matter of time, at that point, before he decommitted. Honestly, I'm surprised it took so long.

FWIW...what I've been told by those who have seen him play is that he's more of a two down thumper type LB who would be a liability against the spread (see Michigan's LBs this year). If you want a guy to stuff the middle he's your guy...so if that is what you guys need then he's a good fit for you guys and I wish him the best...Michigan is just looking for something different for our D.

Any insights on the DC search?

At the moment it seems that Stanford DC Lance Anderson is the front runner. He is also in the running for the BYU HC job so he is going to see how that shakes out first. After that a small handful of guys and each day it seems like the order they are in keeps changing.
