PC family friendly ref bashing for the whole family!

Refs could have called more fouls on Cliff which would have changed the game completely. For that reason alone I was happy with the reffing overall. They let them play which is always what we want to see vs a tight whistle

Few bad calls as always though but nothing mattered but cliff foul trouble

Agreed. I think much of our recent run has been aided by our game crews swallowing their whistles and allowing our defense to be aggressive and physical. I can't recall just how many games last season were impacted by Myles either fouling out or limited by foul trouble.

No one in foul trouble all game - I’ll take that every time. Can’t believe I’m going to say it but . . . think the chant was . . . unfair? 😂😂

Yea the refs missed calls against us especially down low on Cockburn which was good. BUT they were calling lots of fouls as out of bounds, and reversing possessions on those types of missed calls, etc, which is what led to the chants. I’m fine with missed foul calls on both sides, but call possession the right way.

also it was 7 fouls to 1 against us in the second half at one point, that’s what blew the top off

It was roughly 100% of games lol

Seriously though... how much more fun is watching this team without the constant fear of 2 quick fouls from our starting center? I was living in a constant state of fear with Myles. Mostly not his fault as I've never seen such a good defensive big get so little respect from the refs

I would also add we still have to credit Cliff. He really has mastered the vertical leap without leaning into his shooter.

and it was up to 10 - 3 a bit later... not sure what the ratio was when the chant occurred... it was pretty loud and it was most of the arena not just students

The ironic part of the "Ref You Suck" chant was that it came right after the refs stopped play and took 10 seconds off the shot clock for Illinois. I believe it was after the held ball (Paul?) which went back to Illinois. They started playing, but then stopped about 2 seconds later and reset the shot clock from 25 seconds to 10.

I would add the Refs let Cliff play, so Kovi could perform his usual physical thuggery on offense and not get called for a foul.

The good news is that our defense double teaming forced Kovi out of his low post game and played huge part in winning this game.

We were destroying them inside the lane and they were getting NADA lol! That being said, when the chant began, it was warranted.

How about 11-3 in fouls before Illinois started hacking us at the end; also watch the game and see how many time Kofi traveled and how many other Illinois travels they missed easily 5-6; that is a fairly reffed game come on

I thought most of our fouls were warranted...they just didn't call a few on Illinois that seemed like clear fouls watching it live.

That being said I totally agree that we've been allowed to play super aggressive and physical in B1G play.

THAT being said...it's also the job of the home crowd to get on the refs at all times and make them think (somewhere in the back of their brains) that 50/50 calls need to go our way. I actually felt like they let a few super aggressive plays from us on defense go after this chant happened.

Tell that to Paul after he got smacked in the face on his shot with no call.
There was a bit of a late reaction on Paul's part on that one. Not saying he didn't get hit, but he complained about the no call before grabbing his face and hanging out in the backcourt

I agree re: travels, I was screaming last night at my tv....however....Watch the game again and see how many times we got away with assault in the paint going for boards. EASILY 10 -15 times.
