Scroll to 2:26.00, watch the second to last play in regulation. Did refs get it right, or should have been a runoff?

So Libertyville called timeout when the clock would have run on the false start. Wow.

Wow, an announcer that doesn't know the rules !! Surprising

Does anyone know why Libertyville called that time out?

It's possible that a conference was called and that is a timeout,... but other than that this is as bad as Marist-ND last year in the playoffs.

The head official explained to me that there was a penalty on Batavia. There is no run-off rule in HS football. He also said that the clock was set to start on the whistle with 1.5 seconds left on the clock. The problem was the scoreboard operator let the clock run out so they had to reset the clock.

Libertyville chose to take their last time out to reset their defense and Batavia kicked it and forced overtime. In this case, the officials got this one right. Libertyville made the error both by the clock operator and taking a timeout.

I learned Friday night that defensive holding is an automatic first down. I've been assessing it wrong the last 15 years.
