its also the style of play that is taught by many of today's coaches, including Cal & Billy D.

They want you to drive the ball to the hole every time, at the expense of open jump shots. The result is constant collisions, contact, fouls, and ugly possessions.

They are causing the midrange jump shot to become extinct, and it makes for a much uglier game.

No. NBA is and has been de-emphasizing the mid-range game for years and it's a beautiful game. How does emphasizing the mid-range game stop the blatant mugging on the perimeter and hacking inside? It helps by de-cluttering, I guess, but it does not address the actual problems. The NBA tweaked some rules, changed how existing rules were called, and got the ugly physicality largely out of the game. College basketball is similar to the late 1990s Pat Riley garbage, the aesthetic equivalent of a Knicks-Heat series. Hopefully it can recover as well as the NBA has.

Also, lol charges (almost always incorrectly whistled).

Good God 3rex, trolling up some BS. Its your idol Pitino and his ilk that have basically ruined the game with all the fouling. You want to blame Cal for having his team go for the best shots, which are at the rim. Jackass.

Michael. Your a stalker who follows me around a calls me a troll at every turn. You're a one trick pony.

I simply gave my opinion & said its many coaches, including the 2 in the game we were watching. I didn't trash or rip Cal in any way.

One poster responded with why he thought my opinion was wrong. And he made some really good points.

You on the other hand.....well let's just say Im sure I'll see you the next time I make a post.

Lol

Half of the damn game today is NBA range three point shots, yet 3rex thinks there isn't enough shooting, and Cal is ruining the game due to the correct way to play when you are always the more athletic team. And before you say "I SAID MID RANGE!!" Save it. Nothin exciting about seeing an 8 foot jumper. I'd rather see deep shooting or rack hacks and slams. If you want mid range jordan fade always, then you need to stop watching college and watch the pros. That's never really been part of the college game anyway. It's a much more fundamental sport.

Again, why are you here so much? Just go to the louisville board man. It's cool. You can root for both like you do, but at least split time between boards. Staying on RR because of traffic and your ability to make contrary statements is immature and ignorant.

Also, this board really needs to slow down on the THE GAME SUCKS!!!!!!! NO ONE IS WATCHING AAUHHH!!!!! Statements. Viewership for college basketball is not as bad as this board makes it out. The hyperbolic nature toward the perceived lack in Internest in CBB is one of the most overblown topics on this board. And that's saying something.

I never mentioned 3 point shots. Can you read?

Never been to the Lousyville board. Never plan to visit it. Thanks for the invite.

Please tell us more about your clothing store... It's so riveting each time you tell it. By the way, is Michael your best customer. You 2 seem to have a love fest & follow each other around. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's clearly the "hack, grab, push and mug" style of play, along with the moron officials that allow it that is ruining college basketball.

OK, and also the teams that employ the style of play to "see who can break 50 points". That stuff is all garbage and has no place in the game AT ALL.

Quit penalizing athletes by making them play slop ball, and rewarding inferior opponents by allowing overly "stall-ball" offense and thug ball defense. Call fouls by the RULES, call other violations by the RULES, and shorten the shot clock, for starters.

I realize you can't ban a zone defense (there is a lot of strategy in deploying and executing a good zone on occasion), but for God's sake, maybe make a defensive 3 second count or something .... especially if you're NOT going to call fouls by the RULES.

OP I totally agree. Can't wait until we will have some different Refs. Seen enough of Tony Green, Doug Shows, Joe Lindsey and the others who blow their whistles twice during each possession. It's a tournament let them play !

I agree with most of that UKnVT, especially the refs cleaning the game up. But they were directed to do just that, eliminate the hand checking, etc and as they did so this board and the conversation nationally was then blaming the refs for too many whistles.

The game has taken a while, years, to get to this point of ugly basketball & overboard physicality. It will likewise take some time to clean up.

Do the fans have the stomach & patience for that? It didn't seem so recently.

lol, don't let your jealousy show Rex.

I already spoke toward the shooting. Your argument is ridiculous. Time outs, officiating, shot clock and the OAD need reforming. It has nothing to do with john Calipari utilizing his players to their ability or a jump shot. You're an idiot. Pure and simple.

You MUST have a miserable life. What kind of loser hangs on a message board around people that hate him? I'm sure you'd change your handle, but then you Wouldnt get that feeling of gratification (that you rarely get in real life) due to having almost 10,000 post. you're obviously troubled in some way, so go ahead and be a complete loser and continue your insecure posturing. Go argue with the other 5,000 posters who can't stand you.

Expecting a perfectly called game with zero missed calls is about as unrealistic as you can get. Myself and the group I watched today thought the officiating today was as good as we have seen it in awhile. Not sure what the complaint is here. Florida got whistled for 15 fouls all day, UK 9. Let them play? Would you prefer a Ganesh with no fouls called? There has been many badly called games this year, but this was not one if them. Missed calls yes, but that will be every game.

Cats2010--- I agree 100%. Most every game I read on here how bad the refs are & it never even entered my mind while watching the game itself.

2 things I think are pretty much consistently true.

1. When refs are bad, they are bad both ways. When refs are good, they're good both ways. Rarely, if ever, blatantly one-sided.
2. Because of reasons listed above, with all of the contact, a foul could literally be called each & every time down the floor. So one could always point to what they perceive as a missed call. But the game is way past the point of refs calling everything they see. Not possible.

And S & C...."hate" for an anonymous internet poster...someone you don't even know? I don't know what to tell ya. You need some perspective.

Its hilarious really. I saw this board last year wanting it to be cleaned up then MASSIVELY complaining the games took too long due to fouls being called and FT's.

Make up your minds people... seriously
