I'd really like to see what Sutton could do after another year removed from the injury. You could see last year the leg was still bothering him. Also, another year with Coach Flaherty should help.
This is a sign of a great culture. Players think next year will be special. Another year of PT will be great.
Glad to hear it. He is a great story. Also hosting some portal OL today. We could be getting some serious offensive line depth this weekend.

At this point, to me, he’s still a kid.
There’s no way he’ll be denied. Only slam dunk we’ve ever had. This is huge news.
I hear you, but aside from the awesome back story there’s also nothing there to deny him on. This isn’t like the Brantley situation.
He only played in 3 games in 2021 which was the year of his season ending injury that extended through the 2022 season. If anything, he could have a case not to lose eligibility for either of those years since it was the same injury that kept him out. He’s not going to lose both years. That would be beyond shocking.
Remember - 2020 didn’t count. 2018 was a legal frosh redshirt year. He played in 4 games. So the only definitive years of burned eligibity are 2019 and 2023.
They are inconsistent in situations where exceptions are made for some and not others. Like the Brantley situations. Others with similar back stories have had waivers granted.
I don’t recall any kid getting denied a cookie cutter injury waiver that clearly met the stated criteria. He only played in 3 2021 games in a year that RU ended up playing in a bowl game. Nobody is going to dispute that it was season ending obviously. The real question is 2022. Whether he wants to play 2 more or not, Greg probably petitioned for both years. Why not?
I don’t know if he’s interested but the precedent for 2 more is definitely there if he wanted to apply for it (though that’s an example of something granted inconsistently). 2020 didn’t count. He only “played” two other years. See example.
2018 = frosh redshirt (played 4 games)
2019 = Year 1 (eligibility)
2020 = Covid free year
2021 = Injury waiver (played 3 games)
2022 = DNP injury (waiver ext possible - see article)
2023 = Year 2 (eligibility)
My real point was 2021 is the equivalent of a typical 6th year of school not 7 since 2020 didn’t count. A cookie cutter case.
