usually a team would; in an average game, punt around 6-8 times for about 30-35 yd. avg......McMichael seemed like they punted about 30 times for a 8 yard average..............pitiful..........................Rams are loaded up with the skill players......line blocking needs to get better.....................

Martinsville is not very good. They only have 18 varsity players and dress 12-14 jv kids to give them some depth. They led McMichael in the 4th qt but gave out of gas. Morehead led them 14-0 at the half tonite but blew them out in the 2nd half and won 48-6. So yeah Martinsville is not good, they play hard just don't have enough bodies.

Kinda weird that towns not that far apart (Reidsville and Martinsville haven't hardly ever played each other....in 1922 they met twice with Reidsville winning 6-0 and Martinsville winning 18-13..........in 1923 Martinsville won 19-6....in 1924 Martinsville won 13-6...in 1925 Reidsville won 13-0....in 1926 (they played twice) Reidsville won 13-0 and again by a unknown score...and that's it.......haven't played each other in over 90 years..................

Martinsville is down to about 565 students now. The city has become a community of retirees or very low income families. No middle class. And nobody is moving into the area because jobs are scarce. Also it's become strictly a basketball city. We'll have more kids come out for jv and varsity bball than came out for football. I guess when you have 15 state championships banners in bball the kids want to play that. We have a good young coach who is trying to turn the program around by getting into the elementary and middle schools to build up interest, this just isn't going to be a quick fix. Good luck to the Rams this year, you'll have 1 more fan when you make the trip to Ridgeway to play the Warriors this year.

Blocking is my only concern
IF we're going to beat the Elite 2A teams with actual Athletes on the defensive side of the ball Blocking will definitely have to get better. Teams like Rockingham McMicheal and Morehead are only Confident builders. We really don't know what we got yet. Magna Vista should tell us a little more

I agree. I think Morehead will tell us a little. I do think Morehead is a playoff team this year.

Two factors affecting this game that should be noted.

Rams played without Lawson, their best offensive lineman.

McMichael lost their QB on their second play from scrimmage.

Thanks Mule ... definitely a potential key for both teams.
