Jesus H. Christ on a crutch. Byrd was a member of the local KKK for about two years. Then he quit, and spent the rest of his life telling everyone he'd made a mistake and to stay away from them. We're still waiting for your hero the Gropin'fuhrer to disavow David Duke's endorsement.

Washington (CNN)Updated 10:10 AM ET, Thu March 3, 2016 - Donald Trump issued a crystal clear disavowal Thursday of former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke after stumbling last weekend over a question about the hate group leader on CNN.
"David Duke is a bad person, who I disavowed on numerous occasions over the years," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"I disavowed him. I disavowed the KKK," Trump added. "Do you want me to do it again for the 12th time? I disavowed him in the past, I disavow him now."

Byrd was a member of the wing of the Democratic Party that opposed desegregation and civil rights imposed by the federal government. Byrd joined with Democratic senators to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964.Byrd also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

And? So did a lot of other southern Democrats -- most of whom immediately became Republicans. What's your point? Do you think Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt would be welcome in today's GOP? Both of them were progressives.

My point is that Bobby was a racist and that cannot be denied.....ALSO....are so dishonest to accept the fact that Trump DID disavowed both Duke and the KKK....after all, I posted parts of the story from that pillar of fact.....CNN. I'm a Republican and I'm probably MORE progressive than you are. I want to try things that will help those in need improve their opportunities in life. My support of school vouchers for the disadvantaged in our inner cities is just one example. I bet you are totally against helping those in our inner cities. I'm open mined and am willing to consider all points of view...while you are showing yourself to be narrow and closed minded. Proof of that is your unwillingness to at least give Trump a chance. If he fails to deliver he will be gone.

So Byrd gets a pass, but Trump gets assassinated by association?

Actually, can you name those that became Republican? I remember Strom Thurmond but can't think of many others. If so, please name them or I have to assume you are incorrect.

How many times are you going to repeat this you ******** liar? Happened roughly two days after he heard about it. Then there are about 10 other instances in 10 other venues where he did the same. I can continue to provide links to videos or you can just admit you are woefully ignorant or a liar. Your choice.

He did that quite a long time ago. He probably said it 1k times but that wasn't good enough apparently.
