Hate to lose something to get something but is it Possible we get a good Special Teams Coach as a replacement certainly would not want to do anything to hurt the Receivers Coach wise can that duty be assumed by someone else??

Our special teams were a serious liability in 2015. Stoops knows it, and must have been kicking himself. After what happened last year, I can't even conceive that Stoops would go through another year without a designated special teams coach. Couple ways this could go. Stoops could hire a receiver coach who can also handle special teams. Or Hinshaw can take over a big enough share of the offensive coordinator duties to free Gran to handle special teams. The latter plan has some drawbacks, because Gran really needs to focus on retooling our offense. Once Gran was hired, I never saw how Chad Scott could fit in. I suspect Stoops will hire a real receivers coach who can also handle special teams, perhaps with Gran's occasional assistance,

Fully expect Andy Buh to handle STs.

I suspect that would prove to be a mistake that we can't afford. Buh was the lead coach last year with our special teams, and they were terrible. Maybe giving him a bigger hand and the formal title would help, but I would really like to see Stoops go in another direction. We can't afford another year like 2015. I am not down on Buh at all. He is an excellent defensive coach, and I'm glad he's here. But our special teams need a fresh start under different leadership.

Gran was the special teams coordinator at FSU when they put up some gaudy stats so I suspect Buh will do just fine with the help of Gran

Stoops has said multiple times in radio shows, interviews with the press, etc. that he has no interest in hiring a designated ST coordinator.

Buh is the guy and I suspect Gran will help him. Two guys. One defensive minded, one offensive minded. Both coaching ST and both have experience.

People are still whining. Just because there's not one guy with the specific title doesn't mean the ST is in poor hands.

As a side, exactly what would a dedicated ST coach have done about our starting kicker dealing with groin injury and our starting punter laying an egg the entire year?

So
I agree 100 percent. Special teams is a product of talent. All of uk talent had to play lots of snaps from scrimmage. This will be the first year we enough depth to have talented guys who can play teams to get there feet wet. The elite teams in conference have 4 and 5 star rs frosh playing teams.
