SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Nearly 10,000 California National Guard soldiers have been ordered to repay huge enlistment bonuses a decade after signing up to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan, a newspaper reported Saturday.

The Pentagon demanded the money back after audits revealed overpayments by the California Guard under pressure to fill ranks and hit enlistment goals. If soldiers refuse, they could face interest charges, wage garnishments and tax liens, the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/2ew9yQK ) said.

The "you" in this post is clearly California, not the Pentagon. Or are you trying to say the Pentagon gives entitlements to illegals? If you want to argue otherwise, then it's your poor writing that is at issue. I guess you'll blame that on California, too (that's an instance in which "too" is appropriate).

At this time last year the Pentagon had lost over 5 times the entire federal annual budget of everything people think of as "welfare". LOST it. Think about that for a minute. Some here have no concept of scale.


BTW, all of the federal government has an annual audit, with one exception - The Pentagon. They haven't had an audit in over a decade.

We are fine in California, thank you very much. Quite frankly, a lot of us are socially liberal but fiscally conservative. If you don't like it here, don't have to come here. What the national guard here has done is disgraceful. There is political pressure to reverse the stupid edict, and it can't happen fast enough
