That’s not the point, but you know that. Drafting Barkley #2 has paid off for the Giants…it turned out way better than the #1 and #3 draft choices, yet people still want to argue that you shouldn’t draft a RB that high.
Said this 4 times already- nearly every good offensive play for the Giants was (1) executed by Barkley himself, or (2) a function of defenses absolutely flocking to/ keying on stopping Saquon first and foremost. Danny Dimes is a 1000% bust without all eyes on Saquon. “Without his match there is no flame”

"Prior to placing the franchise tag on his superstar running back, Schoen offered Barkley and his camp a deal worth $13 million and again it was rejected.

Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media now reports that the Giants attempted to sweeten the pot, offering Barkley that $13 million deal with $1 million in additional incentives bringing the total possible contract to $14 million."

The only real question is - was this a major mistake on Barkley's part?

Barkley wanted a long term deal with a certain amount of guaranteed money. Was the $13m fully guaranteed? Probably not. And it doesn't start the franchise tag timer either, meaning if he did sign it he'd still possibly be looking at 2 more seasons of dealing with this.

He's going to play. He won't miss any money. He just doesn't know his future income yet, while many of his peers do.

Well looky here. $26mm guaranteed resets the RB market. The Giants are fools. Look at their offense without Saquon. If I were him I'd milk that ankle for another 6 weeks.

All of this is moot. Roseman isn’t going to shell out that kind of $ for a running back.

He has Devonta Smith and Landon Dickerson in line for new deals.
In addition to two first rounders. Unless the Giants decide to sign Saquon to a long-term deal, I'd assume they'll tag him again.
