It's baseball.
Those two losses didn't mean much...this win doesn't either.
Baseball is one of the very few sports that any individual regular season game doesn't mean much...if anything. It's the sum of season that tells the true story.
It means something when you lose two to a sub-200 RPI squad and then win one against a top 20 in RPI. RPI will be what gets that sum of the season into the postseason or not. We didn't get in the postseason a couple years ago despite having a 35 RPI. Why? We lost 7 in a row to close out the season. So in summation, I disagree that individual games do not matter. The body of work as a whole matters, yes, but when it comes to the last few spots, it will matter if this team beat who they should have beaten, and this week, they lost two to a team they should have beaten.
A series win vs. a team like OSU would offset it greatly but we need to be at or above .500 conference record to have a decent chance to finally make the postseason.
