The Attic = became a necessity once X hit Lexington and the UK scene

Dixie Tavern = Larry Redmon and $7 all-you-can drink Icehouse and well drinks

Redmon's = was there on opening night and countless nights afterwards

O'Charley's (Nicholasville Rd) = Monday nights in the summer inexplicably became a nightclub

Kitty O'Shea's = buddy used to play on the patio on Wednesday nights. Great, great times.

Ramsey's on High St = best happy hour in town

I know you said Lexington but I was sad when I drove by Saffrons in Louisville and the building was torn down. I ate there all the time when I worked downtown. It was my favorite restaurant.

I was a big Saratoga fan as well. You could come in any day of the week and the same old men would be drinking at the bar.

I was being a smart ***, think it closed when I was about 10 years old. Think my Mom and Ddad used to hang out there, and Dad used to go to Joyland for dances in the 40s after the war.

It just hit different, as the kids say.

So was The Bar and Johnny Angels, but I never went there either (not that there's necessarily anything wrong with the gentlemen who frequented those well known establishments)

Seriously, I forgot JDI's on High Street though, spent two NYE in a row there, and had a horrible hangover on New Year's Day to prove it.

But . . . I was never at The Dame, and so could not understand the rage and grief when it got torn down.

I went to the Dame a few times. I saw Iron and Wine there and it was awful because the crowd was awful.

The one time I went to JDI was to watch the Kentucky / Wisconsin game in 2014. I was drinking guinness and the waitress asked me if I wanted another one with like 2 minutes left in the game. She handed it to me, I looked at the clock, and just went "If this is in my hand at the end of the game there is a good chance its going flying" so I chugged that thing. Ran down to Limestone to celebrate. When I got home I did not feel good

I wasn’t of age at the time either but knew people. I can vouch.

I haven't been in Lexington in a long time, Camelot East still around?

No. Both East and West have gone the way of the herpes infested Dodo
Went to each place one time back in 1989 time frame.... Went to the East first for a co-workers batchelor party. Good number of nice looking ladies.

Went to the West later - by myself on a Friday night when I was bored. There was a one decent looking stripper and the rest were, shall we say, fat and ****** I was there about 15-20 minutes. Saw one of the overweight ladies giving an old man a lap dance and that was it for me - finished my beer and I left. That was also my last time to be in a “gentlemen’s club”.

Was on Nicholasville Rd. near the O’Charley’s. 80s/90s. Don’t remember when it closed.
One Ritzies was in front of Circuit City on Nich Rd. It ended up a Rally’s before they tore it down to make room for the Walgreens. The other was at the wedge where clays mill meets Harrodsburg/south Broadway. It wasn’t as good as the other, always had nasty greasy fries.

Yep, the Ho was much better on campus. It's always ghetto AF now on the rare occasion we decide to pop in there drunk AF for a ho burger and cheddar tots in the wee hours.

Rockhaven was a shythole but I miss hanging out there and playing out there with my band in the late 90s. For those of us who were underage then.

Never got to go to Wrocklage but always heard stories about Soundgarden and such playing there.

High on Rose was a good place for local shows.

Lynagh's I haven't been down to in a few years but waaaay back when in the 90s I could sneak in and they had legit bands playing there. Still had solid local bands maybe 10 years ago when I'd go there often enough.

Fishtank and the Dame were fun. I liked playing out at A1A but I never really liked going there to hang out.

I miss Billy's BBQ. Whenever I made it down to Lexington my buddies and I would meet there for lunch. The food was decent but it was more for nostalgia sake. It opened when I was a freshman back in 1978.

Brookings too.

I miss Nadine's in Palomar and the place with the cool outside bar at the corner of N Limestone and E 3rd Street. Forgot the name.
