I know, it’s kinda early. But we haven’t retired a number in quite some time. Douby would have fit the bill, but I think the standard is staying for all four years. Maybe we’re due, especially if we make the tournament. Don’t know how high Bakers stats are inching up in the all time list, but what’s your thoughts? How about Harper?

Douby should be retired. Plenty of schools retire guys who don’t play 4 years (for instance announced yesterday that Kawhi being retired at SDSU after two years). He led the best conference in scoring and was a 1st round pick. Retire #5.

And as amped as I am, neither Ron or Geo are anywhere near that level yet. Geo frankly doesn’t have the time to either.

There are not that many numbers that you can use on college basketball jerseys. Number can't include 6,7,8 or 9.
Ref has to signal fouls using both hands.

Douby should have his number retired. He was unreal.

The numbers rule is kind of dumb. No reason for it really. The scorers table can get the number from the refs with ease

You can't force greatness. We'll retire a number when there's a deserving player. I would be supportive of Douby.

Douby was awesome. Douby's final year was the best season I've seen by a Rutgers player since I started attending games. But Lloyd, Sellers, and Bailey were All-Americans (1st or 3rd Team at worst). Eddie Jordan, Roy Hinson, John Battle, Keith Hughes, Hollis Copeland, and Mike Dabney all had impressive careers and played on teams that accomplished a lot more than Douby's. I'm a Yankee fan and it meant something when it was guys like Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, and Mantle. Don't water it down by putting our Ron Guidry up there with those guys. I mean, why?
