and i hope Okafor is ok the rest of the way. I had a dream that UNC kept it close and Coach K beat us with an out of bounds play or some other adjustment he borrowed or adapted from Coach Smith...needless to say, it was a nightmare. I admit i do not know enough basketball to know if my dream came true, but i am truly happy, despite the loss, that the game at which Coach Smith was respectfully honored, was a classic in the series. I am super proud of our squad putting up a fight like that, and impressed with K, your squad and the crowd too. Congrats. all glory to UNC-Duke- the greatest rivalry in college sports.

Thanks, Clam. It was a game worthy of the rivalry. But I knew the game would be close, and I've been telling that to everyone I know. Both teams had their chances, and we're fortunate that we were able to make an extra play or two to win.

I have to think that when Duke went up 13, it was Dean who gave UNC that push and fight to take the lead and control the game. It was just an odd and sloppy game but it was a great game!

Coach K's post game comments were excellent too... hard to imagine another rivalry where one coach speaks almost reverently about his former rival coach, to his team, as part of the preparation of his team for the big game. Also, loved his comment that he wanted to lead a prayer, or at least be praying as the teams gathered before the game at mid-court. i agree there was some sloppy there, but what a game.. .all the passion, glimpses of excellence, all-out competition and even grounds for controversy and ongoing accusations and insults and conspiracy theories.. .etc.... basically had everything a UNC-Duke game ought to have! :-D am i the only one who missed Dick Vitale? i missed hearing his amazement and imagined his hysterical voice raving about the rivalry. missed him marveling about how these young men just somehow produce these compelling games.... #awesomebaby

Your guys showed incredible heart and determination and Roy coached his a$$ off. You have a hell of a team over there and if you bring it like that every game you guys could beat anybody. So proud to add another classic to the best rivalry in all of sports.

yep in his post game presser you could tell he was just emotionally exhausted. He really wanted that game. I'm glad we didn't give it to him but I was impressed with his passion

watched it again, and while we did melt some, we gave it all we had that night, for sure.. .and Roy was really trying, for sure. great night.. like to see it come out the other way, and if we play that well against other competition, we should be good. if we can sharpen up some of the blurry moments, we might be really good. Congrats again and see y'all in the Dean Dome on the 7th ... so nice, let's do twice... at least! :)

Both teams have a lot of work to do before March 7th, but it should be another fun one. And who knows? Maybe we get two more....or three!!!

Not quite an oldtimer, although I do turn 35 tomorrow. But I freakin love Dickie V, and I felt bad thinking about him having to watch it somewhere on a TV instead of being there like he should ALWAYS BE.

I missed Mr Awesome Baby too guys. What an Instant Classic!
