I believe this was the 3rd or 4th year the Sycamores have been at the Brook. Once again they had limited numbers (50-60 in total?) but as I tell kids all the time....less kids means more reps and this camp remains a sleeper that kids should attend.
So who stood out (no rosters provided so did best I could with names etc)
RB Fayezon Smart St Laurence- was named as the Offensive RB MVP and deservedly so. Smart just can do it all....has great speed and quickness, wiggle and exceptional burst with power as well. The only negative? Height....if Smart was say 5-9/5-10 he would be a multi D1 offer kid. Impressive player and competitor here.
WR Darrion Conrad Addison Trail- ran a sub 4.5 40. see my comments on Conrad from the NCC Iowa State camp. All of it still applies here.
RB Michael Kennedy Mount Carmel- Kennedy was a bit more fatigued at this camp compared to the night before at NCC (lesson here kids back to back camps will wear you down quick) but was still impressive here.
DB Arion Lacy Brother Rice- nice overall player here ran well and was solid in coverage. Still is a shade undersized for bigger level schools but a name to watch out for regardless.
OG Jake Stover St. Rita- it's getting to the point of stalking for Stover and I this spring....all kidding aside Stover has had a great spring and early summer. Was named OL MVP here.
OT Sam Thomas Geneseo- was really excited to see Thomas finally up close and live. My only question and biggest question on Thomas was how well could he pass pro and how much does he need to learn and work on in that department since Geneseo just doesn't throw much if at all. Thomas was a bit bigger/taller and lankier than I expected which is a positive. He's no question a tackle body type. I was also impressive with Thomas overall speed/quickness and agility and bend. More positives. His Pass Pro? Still a work in progress and Thomas will need to lock in and improve his overall technique and pass pro fundamentals for the next level. That's the not so good news yet everything that Thomas needs to improve on his teachable. Thomas was a quick study, took coaching well and you can tell he wants to get better. I expect some FCS level offers to follow soon.
OC Joe Calcagno Fenwick- easily one of the top long snappers I've seen live in a while. Calcagno just is blessed with the ability to launch rockets back either ion a short snap or a long snap scenario. I'd say that Calcagno is FBS offer worthy however it's so tough for any specialist to come in and draw $$$ right away....so it's a hard call. I'll just say that Calcagno is very, very impressive long snapper who will draw a ton of looks and interest this summer.
LB Austin Reifsteck Nazareth Academy- 2018 linebacker who was impressive overall here. Runs well has good size and strength and is no question a name to watch in 2016 for Naz.
QB Romello Washington St. Laurence- intriguing kid. Has good size (I'm guessing 6-2/6-3 range) is athletic and at times spins the ball well. Seemed a bit inaccurate here but also showed some nice flashes as well. No doubt a senior tape kinda kid to watch out for this fall.
RB Fotis Kokosioulis Maine South- Class of 2018 ball of speed and energy. Like some of the other running backs here Fotis is a tad undersized yet his overall speed, quickness and ability to make people mis remains impressive.
More to follow still tracking down names etc will edit/update later.
