A very good movie, in the debate scene about the 13th amendment Democrats sounded just like today's Democrats. Question, Republicans have always fought for equality according to the constitution, Democrats not so much , how did Democrats get so much black support?

The word "Democrat" in their party name fools a lot of people. I've always felt that the Repubs should incorporate that word into their party name.

The party’s of Lincoln’s time versus today are completely different.

It’s a better question to ask why the Democratic Party of the 30’s and 40’s, with their Southern racist ties, were able to secure a large black vote.

Nixon and then Reagan worked hard to appeal to the Southern Democrat, and Democrats began to appeal to inner cities.

I vote Democrat because of the environment, less religion in their written laws, and emphasis on attempting to address financial hardships for common Americans.

However, after the exposure of the lack of leadership and it’s questionable strategy over the last year, I might not check D for a very long time.

Seems like if the left thought the environment was such an existential threat to humanity as they say they would have China in there cross hairs and not let up and rejoice in these tariffs and keep the proverbial boot on throat to cripple them. But they don't and take sacks of money off them. Talking about the environment is sexy but the left is not serious because there lack of calling China out. China is the biggest polluter to this World and the left caves with them

Because Kennedy and Johnson get a lot of the credit for the civil rights reforms

The environmentalists don’t even realize they’re being used by the party to funnel money to liberal NGOs who in turn, funnel it back to the Dem politicians, their allies, and family members. That was the point of Paris accords.

China isn’t an easy problem, imo. It’s not like they are going to just stop the polluting and remain behind us. We have a deal with it in a practical manner I think.

I don’t doubt that element exists, but it wasn’t the point.

An absolute and total failure, enslaving generations.
Depends on what you are looking at, imo. Public education has been great for many. The GI Bill was a wonderful thing. Social
Security helped many hardworking Americans live and die with dignity. Food stamps help many children continue to be nourished and grow well.

They are not all failures. I do, however, agree that anything in this area that isn’t a TEMPORARY measure, is by default a failure of policy.

For the most part ........... in agreement.
I might not check D for a very long time.
Caution, as the election gets closer you will be hearing about the cuts to Social Security planned by the Republicans, you may want to reconsider.

It was 100% the point. There is no rationalizing why India and China, the world’s worst polluters didn’t have higher requirements. The money earmarked to be spent by the US only made minimal gains on the actual issues.

There was enough fluff in there to keep the zealots happy, but this was an extreme case of revenue generation and laundering operation by the Democratic Party.

Quick question....Which Democrat said this......

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races"

The EPA did exactly what it was supposed to do and liberal pols added to their charter to try and push their commie policies.
