Yes I know it was New Mexico State and yes I still have my doubts about Stoops and especially the defense, but one main positive I saw was how our offense moved the ball with Johnson in the read option.
Almost every play was a read option and you could see how it has given us so much trouble with dual QBs over the years. With Towles and Barker the defense always could key on the running back because neither were a threat to run much. What I saw was pressure stopped in its tracks because they had to respect Johnsons running ability and that is why it was so wide open for our backs. Not to mention how when Johnson decided to keep the ball he had the option for a dump pass that worked on a few occasions.
Our defense sucks...that's no lie, but the offense I saw last night gives me hope that we can put up points.
