lol, red states dominate the list of biggest freeloading states in the USA
More freeloading than people who don't pay back student loans for worthless degrees?

Yep, this is an inconvenient little fact that conservatives try to ignore. The biggest net leeches of federal handouts and welfare money are mostly red states, and the biggest net contributors to our revenue base are mostly blue states.

The reality of how it works is precisely the opposite of how they imagine it in their head.
Yep, California's GDP accounts for 14.7% of the USA's GDP (second best checks in at 8.4%) at 3.1 trillion, and is 1.3 trillion higher than the second place state.

The #2 and #3 states, Texas and New York, combined barely had a bigger GDP in 2022 than California at 1.8 and 1.7 trillion.

The gap between California and and Texas - 1.3 trillion - would rank 4th as #4 Florida is at 1.1 trillion.

If California was an independent country, it would have 6th biggest GDP in the world, surpassed only by the USA, China, Japan, Germany, and India.

Maybe he and Chris Wallace can start a gig together. They deserve each other.

Oh lord... could you imagine how freaking sad and hilarious those two would be, if they thought they were being taken seriously TOGETHER...

I like the idea of California as an independent country. When Ron DeSantis is President of the U.S. in 2028 he might make it happen. That is the talk on the streets down here.

Either make them their own Republic or sell them to Mexico for twenty-fine cents on the dollar. Or maybe we should just give it back to Mexico.

Should definitely put tariffs on what Cali sells to the rest of the country

So you want to see much of the South crater because they aren't getting California money anymore? Nice. Maybe then they can secede and become the third world country that they would be without blue state money.

I sure would like to give it a try. You really think the Southern States of 2022 couldn't make it on their own? How about we try it and see.

Please take your California money and leave the rest of America alone.

Nope. They can just print more "blue state" money and bus in cheap labor from other countries to make their own goods. Works for the blue states.

Let the left have most of south western California except San Diego southward, and the US can keep mid Cali northward. Declare silicon Valley independent or make from there East part of Nevada.

Ah so the South wants immigration now? Interesting. I thought they were taking jobs and ruining the country with all their diseases and crime?

Ah, so Cali admits to being the state of New slavery now? Interesting. I thought they were wanting "living wages" for people that don't make anything but burgers and donuts? How can immigrants bring in diseases and crime if vaccines work and our presidents don't sell guns to cartels? You sound like you want people to think you're not a bigot.

If Californians can sht on the street, why can't the rest of the country sht on California's streets?

This response to the quoted post doesn't make a lick of sense. I suppose this is what I get for arguing with a hilljack though.

Because your hypocrisy doesn't defend your arguments, I responded with equal idiocy.

Awww. Must have struck a nerve with the sophisticated, "wanna be followed," nba jock sniffer. You should ask LeBron if it's OK before posting slander about immigrants being sources of disease and crime.

I'm not from the hills. Chicago doesn't have a lot of those, Einstein.

It would be nice to take their money and give it to the states that aren't a perpetual welfare state and a drain on America!

Actually this is a statistic that is meant for the uneducated and simple minded. I see a few of our resident idiots fell for it.
The statistic is done " by state" to cover up the fact that the VAST MAJORITY of these recipients are registered democrats. The south has a larger majority of poor people, simply because the cost of living. Its not a shock poorer states get more funding.
But to break it down by state instead of actual recipient is just done to hide the actual issue.

Come here to Louisville and walk around these public housing units. Thousands of residents in each one, I'd be shocked if you could find a single registered Republican.

It's also very ironic you are complaining about federal handouts in red states. You do know that your party is the one that not only protects all these federal programs, but increases them every chance they get.

I couldn’t imagine paying money to watch shows about politics.

People who would pay for this type of content must yearn to be a member of a cult.

I knew this would fail harder than the time Napster tried to become a pay service.

i agree with poster above observing that BBN doesn't like him. How big a jack *** do you have to be to play basketball here and literally be disliked. He has achieved it.

Most UK fans love their basketball.
Most UK fans love conservative politics even more.

It’s pretty simple, really. If Rex was talking about America First and was right leaning, the people here who hate him would love him and vice versa.

That may be part of it but it’s more than that. He’s said some pretty harsh things (that may or may not be true; may or may not be a perspective issue) about the program and people around it (including fans) that aren’t easily taken from a) someone who under normal circumstances would be beloved and b) has apparently had his own character issues. More recently he’s done provocative things like talk about a coach leaving before a tournament game. He is also inauthentic in his come on and presentation ( or maybe that’s just me…I can be cynical)

I’ll cite myself as evidence to the contrary.

I’m more left-leaning and usually vote D …yet Rex still annoys the hell out of me. His phony, disingenuous, attention-whoring nature began turning me off before I ever knew what his political leanings were.

My issues with him have nothing to do with politics, it’s just his personality.

-yep...states don't pay taxes. SALT deduction caps are another thing blue states scream over...do they not want to pay their "fair share" to the feds?

Why are red states doing such a poor job with their economies then to be having so many poor people?

But funny you mention public housing units in Louisville but ignore the rest of the state, particularly eastern Kentucky, which boasts some of the most solidly red districts in the country. You won't find many registered Democrats in those areas

You missed his point. Look at who the poor vote for. It's not necessarily red voters that are the poorest.

I can't imagine watching political shows for free unless it's for election day coverage, and even then, why? There are internet trackers that update you faster than the networks will.

No, I did not. The south is largely run by Republicans. The south is home to more poor people. Why are Republicans doing such a poor job running their economies?

Because they were democrat for the last 50 years and only switched pub after getting tired of being dirt poor working class. Businesses aren't moving to Cali anymore. They are leaving en masse. Austin TX is stealing tons of tech jobs from Cali and the weather isn't anywhere near as good. Cali had the best weather in the entire country and still managed to make it unlivable.

Ford is building a huge plant near etown instead of cali for a reason.... its way cheaper and less crazy.

It’s humorous. Liberals also attempt to blame conservatives for racism when I don’t think the GOP could match the historic levels of racist acts perpetuated by the Dems in this country if there was a concerted effort to do so. Rather, the GOP has stood as a barrier to the the Dems’ ugliness over the course of history. That is where we appear to be today, as well. Dems seek to segregate and divide along racial and other immutable characteristics today. They seek to create division where none actually exists. They also seek confusion over common sense. If I was a proclaimed liberal, I think I would start a new party just to pretend no connection to my party’s massive history of ugliness over the past. But, let’s not teach THAT history.
