Seemed to me for the first time since he’s been hired he didn’t have that edge to him like in previous pressers. Could just be me, but to me he just didn’t have that voice that made me feel like everything is going to be alright. Thoughts?

Dah! It's called reality! Nebraska would be awesome if we didn't actually have to play the games.

Give him a break. His son lost his Charizard card and almost lost a Squirtle.

He sounded like a real coach who does his homework, speaks like he knows what he’s talking about, unlike a “used car salesman.”

Like it or not we are paying him $74 million, we are locked in on Matt Rhule.

Rhule has been around the block before. He’s had much worse starts than this. We just parse everything waaaayyyyy too much.

Nebraska fans make the Carolina Panthers‘ fans look like amateurs.

Has anyone actually met a real Carolina panthers fan, ever? Not some on-line bot, but an actual real life person? I never have, nor have I known anyone else who has. Just saying… They may not be real.

The Nebraska fan base is so miserable…year after year we hope for different results and one game into another reset and it’s the same. I’m so damaged that if we ever have a 40 point lead in the 4th quarter I’ll expect us to blow it. Maybe we can win 6 games and fans won’t be destroying each other on here?

That would be nice but to get there we have to win 6 games and we haven’t done that in quite some time…..

It's been a decade plus since Nebraska put a team away at halftime

It sucks that the former coach wasted 5+ years as well.

you should have watched his interviews with Carolina while he was in trouble there.. those press conferences told me everything I needed to know about Matt Rhule. I don't think he can handle the pressure here, just my opinion. What you are describing is the beginnings of a coach realizing the kind of pressure, expectations and fishbowl he is under here.

I can tell you the pressure is much less than it used to be. MUCH LESS. If he can't handle Nebraska fans hoping for 6 wins and not blowing sure fire wins, then he better get a different job. Im sure he will be just fine in today's Nebraska fishbowl!

What in the world would give people the idea that Rhule can't handle the pressure here?

Ive seen coach happy and subdued.

I could go for a little bit of Bo Pelini pissed off now and again. Spend a lot of time with the O line and just glare with arms crossed.

I think he probably has that in him, he just has the ability to keep out of the public eye, unlike Pelini.

Nah, Rhule can handle the pressure. That's not even up for debate.

I will say this, though, after having watched the whole presser. I get the impression that Rhule pretty much views this season as one long preseason. He's just seeing what works, what doesn't work. Who's who and what's what. Then he'll adjust accordingly during the offseason. That seems to be his MO.

So, having a losing season this year is not outside the realm of possibility. Hell, based on his track record, it should be expected.

The thing about Nebraska fans that seems lost on a bunch of people is that the fanbase can actually be patient as long as they see improvement and progress. Winning the game on Thursday would have been massive, and gone a long way in giving fans hope for the future and some enthusiasm.

A win last Thursday would make losing to Colorado not that big of a deal because Coach Prime has appeared to put together a freak roster. It would be seen as an outlier.

But as it is, losing to Minnesota - and losing in the exact same way they've been losing - and then getting blown out by CU will be completely demoralizing for the fanbase.

Reality is setting in that the "honeymoon" period is over, and the games are harder to win than he thought.

😂

He isn’t Scott Frost who thought just by being here he would win. He knows how hard it is to win. Evidence is his time at Temple and Baylor. He doesn’t take anything for granted.

I really hope that isn't the case. Winners find way to win when the game are winnable and that game was very very very winnable. Not saying that Rhule isn't a winner but I would feel really disappointed if we were just going through the motions in winnable games to see what works and doesn't work.
