Hats off to MC - I think you found your full-time QB. A big home win for Rice. Hopefully Feeto got a good seat.

Fun game to watch for sure but the lack of defense by both teams was depressing, I like good hard nose Catholic League battles, this was hard to watch....Alec Thomas did an outstanding job for MC, BR offense is explosive to say the least, but I think I saw 3 hard hits on defense from both teams combined.

MC should move up in the polls despite the loss, the two teams are dead even. MC looks like a top 7a contender to me. QB is unbelievable. MC vs. ESL in 7a. Very impressed with both teams.

Well, last week showed MC to be even with SR in a last second 3 point loss. SR was even with St. Laurence in a 3 point loss. IC Catholic beat St. Laurence by 14, so lets just move them up instead.

All kidding aside, is MC ever going to have to beat someone good to be moved up? I know they have quality losses, but at this point they have beaten Chicago Taft, Gary West and Chicago DePaul. And next week is De LaSalle a team who's first 5 opponents were 4-21 in their first 5 games. So they aren't any good either.

4:44 left to go in the first half and MC puts the ball on the carpet at the BR 5 yard line? Was that the difference in the game. Anyone with recap who saw the game live.

I think Rice had 5 turnovers to MCs 3. Rice had ball on MC 15 yd line with 1:58 in half and opted to go for the 4th and a long yard instead of kicking the FG and going up 10 at half instead allowed MC to regain momentum. Rice's Soph DB 27 had a tough nite but he'll learn a lot from this game and make him a better DB because of it. Overall both good teams -Rice was just a little better.

Congrats to the Crusader; I had MC in this game and I was wrong, but it was very close.

Watching the end of the game with around 3:00 minutes to go and MC down by seven, I was surprised there was not a "no huddle" type of offense. More specifically from 2:05 - 1:35, I did not sense an urgency.

I know I am a homer here for the CCL Blue, but if Rita gets in and can avoid MC early on, I think both MC/SR can go a long way. Same applies to LA/BR. Let's see how the 1 - 32 seeding plays out.

Thomas definitely gives them their best chance to win. Was going to be a tall order to win at Rice vs. their best team I have seen. Now with Thomas at QB they have more designed plays for him etc. Offense should be even more explosive when Verdis get back. Besides EStL , MC wont see teams with the O like LA and BR in 7A.

MC has a very solid team - yes getting Brown back will be key (and huge). MC has some depth issues which require them to play some key guys both ways. I still don't know whether I'd have Thomas on the KOff Return team - yes he's a gamebreaker but when he plays QB now you can't afford to chance having someone hit him full steam on a Kickoff and lose him. As for observation above, I too wondered why Frank was taking a lot of time when he was down 7 with under a minute left and 25 yards to go. Final stats for MC were 532 yards of Offense and 2 TOs. Rice had 595 yards and 4 TOs (Rice cannot have 4 turnovers and expect to beat teams like LA or HF or Palatine or Barrington). Rice does get Veal back for LA game - which gives them a very fast OLB - King should be full strength in the middle by then. Also I would expect to see Smalling playing more CB or even FS for the Rita/Loyola games. Rita will be a good game for Rice to see if they can correct mistakes made vs MC on pass and run defense.

Smalling probably on D v LA certain situations. Don't see him needed there vs Rita. Week 9 will be wild. For Blue, #1 seed, maybe #1 ranking, Heisman Trophy-like USC UCLA 1967

I would think they might need him vs Rita - plus keeps him fresh on D side of the ball - figured the game this week vs Joe's he won't be needed at all. MC should be able to roll DLS and Montiini the next two weeks before playing Provy for the dubious distinction of who gets to be 0-4 in Blue this year

Hey Debbie Dean Downer - no chance DLS beats MC. Montini will be tougher if Prince Walker plays but you should still beat them. Your toughest game will be Provy to determine if you go into playoffs at 6-3 and avoid ESL or at 5-4 and get ESL
