Rest in Peace Bill Noel, a great man and WVU fan who passed Saturday, long before his time.....he was a good and loyal friend and a better person.....he was a major supporter of WVU sports.....his uncle undoubtedly is the greatest athlete ever to play at WVU, but he was too humble to volunteer it.....we were friends for at least a few months before i knew it.....he also had a close acquaintance with both Don Nehlen and Bill Stewart and numerous WVU notables and officials, but he never wore it on his sleeve.....he will be missed by many.....but now he's in a better place.....sympathies to his lovely wife Fran and his immediate and extended family......

Sad, sad, sad.

He was a really good person. A very humble man who had served his country. A very proud WVian and a great WVU fan. Pure salt of the earth.

If you wanted to listen to him you could hear a lot and be very entertained and enlightened. He once told me a few stories that his uncle had told him about the Lakers and 1 or 2 about WVU that would sell a lot of copy and books. And no I'm not going to share them.

Him and Dan and Mike and Jimmy used to host Sportstalk on 950 out of Charleston, and it was an awesome WVU fan show. They were all unabashed biased WVU fans and it was a real good hour to make the drive home go fast if you were sitting in traffic. It was all WVU all the time. Nothing even close to that now.

Mountain Sports Hotline - best hour on the radio.

Had not spoke to Bill in a while. Major Regret there. I really will keep his family and really close friends in thoughts and prayers.

Now Bill is face to face again with a long-time close friend, Frank Offutt, often known on these forums as Frank in SA. A pair of fabulous WVU supporters in every good way possible.

I first met Frank when he was playing basketball for Williamson High and I was the Williamson Daily News sports editor. He was in the same class as my late wife. Brilliant man and a great person.

Just like Bill Noel.

A late friend of mine used to produce that show, Engineer. They were always a hoot.

I think they started doing it when John Dickensheets got too ill to do his show that had bounced from station to station that used to occupy that slot? Bill and the boys were a nice counter to what came out of the bunker at WVRC.
