I thought these were Braves slipper?
That was Cox’s nickname because he fell a lot. The Yankee Clipper, The Brave Slipper.
Super weird. I just watched a 90’s Braves documentary a few days ago. Lots of clips showing Ted Turner & Bobby Cox. Now, RIP to both.
I hate the Braves.......but admired both of them.......

It was a well-documented incident at the time. A 911 call was made. Police responded and reported seeing injuries to his wife. She refused to press charges. Braves had a hastily convened presser the next day with Bobby and his wife, where they held hands and said it was all a misunderstanding. Thou dost protest too much?
What exactly is inaccurate and unfair about these comments? The details are factual. Bobby Cox kept his job. “Osuna of the Braves,” as he referred to himself while trying to avoid a DUI bust, kept hitting cleanup. Cops responded to Osuna’s house as well, and reported injuries to the woman. What exactly is inaccurate and unfair?

As a Giants fan back in the late 80's, early 90's the 1993 season still stings. Will Clark, Bonds, Robby Thompson, Matt Williams, and some really good pitching to go along with it all. 103 wins didn't get them a playoff spot thanks to the Braves.
I will say that I saw Avery, Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux all the time during spring training - the team had a corporate membership at what is now the Dye Preserve. They were all cool, and all completely different in every way imaginable from looks to personalities. Avery was the only one that would go out with us at night. He was younger.
They knew I was a Giants fan and when I saw them in the spring of 94, Smoltz laughed and said "Well, if we were in the East like we should be, this wouldn't have happened!"
As for Bobby, RIP. People will say you should have won more, but who's to say.

I don’t think there’s much disagreement that Glavine and Maddux were being given XXWide strike zones and had been wondering if this impacted them in the World Series, with AL umpires behind the plate.
Maddux and Glavine lived six inches off the plate their entire careers. Hall of Famers for sure, but they absolutely had different strike zones than everyone else.
It’s okay to say “This guy did things I myself would be ashamed of doing but he was really good at what he did, he had an enormous impact.”

Cox was a great manager--I don't care if he was a good person or the antichrist. Has zero impact on me.
I wouldn’t go that far but they definitely took advantage of umps like Eric Gregg, Bruce Froemming and the Hirschbecks, who had huge zones.
Not going to argue with this. They were studs though.
some of Maddux & Tony Gwynn’s stats are absurd. Things like lack of walks for Maddux and lack of strike outs for Gwynn
I was about to defend Michael Vick and say, “now wait just a minute….. fighting dogs is bad, but it’s not quite the same as murdering people or sleeping with teenagers….”
Then I remembered that Mike Vick went to Va Tech & Franklin is now the coach of Va Tech. Go ahead, lump Vick in with the wife beaters, pedo’s and murdering scumbags.
lol--I threw in Vick simply because I firmly believe there's many people that care way more about him treating dogs horribly than OJ killing people
