"Douglas represented the U.S. at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, and the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, Mexico. He was the first black American to wrestle in the Olympic Games, and was captain of the 1968 Olympic Team, which was also a first. He competed at six Senior World Championships from 1963 to 1970, with appearances in both Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle. He collected two men’s freestyle World medals—silver in 1966 in Toledo, Ohio, and bronze in 1970 in Edmonton, Canada."

A great champion and a great coach. I love Mocco's story about how he could've been DQed but Douglas just wasn't going to let that happen and had his wrestler finish the match to allow Steve to advance. Shows how much he respected the sport.

I yelled at him to get off the mat more than even John Smith, and I yelled at him once in Carver to shut up, and he turned and stared right at me. I loved his fanny pack though. He was a great wrestler (kept Gable off the '68 team by beating him in the trials) and a great (as much as I hated to admit it) coach. ISU did him dirty to keep Sanderson there, then Sanderson did them dirty.
RIP, Bobby, you'll be missed in the wrestling world.

He didn’t have him finish the match, just wrestle one second after restart so it would be an injury default. Still a classy move.
